IIT Kanpur is known as ‘factory’ of IAS and IPS officers?

This college has earned the moniker of being the factory of developing IAS and IPS officials and surprisingly, it is not Delhi University or Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) or not even located in some state capital. We are talking about the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (IIT Kanpur) which has this credit due to the sheer number of its alumni who have aced the UPSC CSE and became IAS, IPS, or IFS officers. IIT Kanpur is often in the news each year when the UPSC CSE results are declared as it has almost become a certainty that at least a few students of the institute would be ranked among UPSC toppers. According to data revealed by the Alumni Association of IIT Kanpur, around 600 students who earned B.Tech and M.Tech degrees from IIT Kanpur, cleared UPSC CSE, while around 300 others cracked other civil service exams. Located in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, IIT Kanpur was established in 1959.
