NLC concludes special campaign 5.0 with transformative governance & community welfare initiatives (UPDATED)

NLC India successfully concluded the Special Campaign 5.0 on 31.10.2025 marking the culmination of a month-long drive featuring impactful initiatives across various domains. The "Special Campaign", an annual event, was launched by Government of India in 2022 as part of the Vision of Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, to improve governance by focusing on cleanliness, reducing pendency in government offices, and institutionalizing efficiency. The Special Campaign 5.0 is aimed at improving efficiency, streamline processes, and strengthen citizen-centric governance and foster a culture of efficiency and accountability. Building on the success during the earlier editions, Campaign 5.0 at NLCIL, under the able guidance of Minister of Coal, G Kishan Reddy, focused on “Minimizing Pendency, Institutionalizing Swachhata and enhancing citizen-centric services” from October 2 to October 31, 2025. As part of the concept of “Best Practices”, marking the concluding day of the campaign on October 31, 2025, NLCIL CMD Prasanna Kumar Motupalli inaugurated a host of facilities for the general public in Neyveli Township. A state-of-the-Art Para Sports ground for the differently abled at Block-13 was inaugurated by NLCIL CMD, demonstrating NLCIL’s firm commitment to the empowerment of the differently abled sportspersons. Sports materials for the sports events – Archery, Shotput, Javelin, Discus Throw, Weight-plates and Dumbbells were distributed by CMD to the beneficiaries. Around 80-100 para sportspersons participated. Further, facilities for the sports of Volleyball and Shuttle badminton were provided as an addition to the existing indoor sports at the Block-28 Community Welfare Centre in Neyveli Township. Speaking on the occasion, the CMD called upon the sportspersons to use their perseverance and passion to achieve great successes and bring laurels to the Neyveli community and the Nation. He also inaugurated a renovated Walkers’ Park at Block-13 as part of efforts under the concept of “Waste to wealth”, enhancing township infrastructure and strengthening public welfare measures. The popular Nehru Park in Block-8 of Neyveli Township consists of amusement and educative facilities. Among them is a model of India Map on the ground, indicating the Indian States, the State Animals and depicting the NLCIL projects in various states. To add to the creativity, a toy train goes around the India Map providing the children a novel experience. The renovated and facelifted India Map along with washrooms were inaugurated by CMD at the Nehru Park. Also, renovated washrooms at the Amaravathi Nursery in Block-16 were inaugurated as part of the welfare measures. The above inaugurations were graced by Senior executives, employees, representatives of recognized unions and associations, workmen, contract workmen, and members of the public. In addition to various public oriented initiatives, the Special Campaign 5.0 from 02 October to 31 October 2025 at NLCIL saw cleaning of 180 sites, clearance of an area of 34 Lakh Sq.feet disposal of 1609 MT of scrap which fetched a revenue of Rs. 6.22 Crores. Key digital governance reforms, including the “Grievance Redressal Assistance Portal for Employees (GRAPE)” and “Centralized Assistance for Retired Employees (CARE)”, aimed at simplifying procedures and enhancing administrative transparency were introduced. Several initiatives for environmental friendly and people friendly practices as envisioned by the Government of India were launched during the campaign demonstrating the unbreakable spirit of the NLCIL family in nurturing the overall welfare of the community and achieving the goal of inclusive sustainability which embodies a collective progress for all.
