GVMC holds health check-up, PPE kit distribution programme for sanitation workers (UPDATED)

Visakhapatnam: GVMC South Zone Assistant Medical Officer Dr. Krishnam Raju stated that sanitation workers, who continuously render services to maintain the cleanliness of the city, should pay special attention to their health and safety and must mandatorily use personal protective equipment (PPE) while performing their duties. Following the instructions of GVMC Commissioner Ketan Garg, he organized an awareness programme on the use of PPE, a health check-up camp, and PPE kit distribution programme for sanitation workers at the Ward No. 34 Secretariat under the South Zone limits of GVMC.

Sanitation workers were educated on the proper use of PPE, including gloves, masks, safety shoes, and reflective jackets, to prevent occupational hazards and workplace accidents. They were also advised to maintain personal hygiene to protect themselves from diseases. Health check-ups were conducted, and medical guidance was provided to assess their well-being. PPE kits were distributed, with workers encouraged to use them regularly. Dr. Krishnam Raju reaffirmed GVMC’s commitment to ensuring a safe and healthy work environment for sanitation workers. Sanitary Inspector, Ward Sanitation Secretaries, sanitation workers, and other GVMC officials participated in the programme.
