Magazine in 13 languages, Editors in 4 languages

Sainik Samachar- a prestigious in house publication of Ministry of Defence is facing serious language Editors' crisis for the last many years. It publishes in 13 Indian languages- Malayalee, Gorkha, Telugu, Tamil, Bengali, Marathi, Urdu, Hindi , English, Kannada, Odiya, Gujarati and Assamese- but presently having editors of four languages. According to sources, the sanctioned strength of Editors is 16. Earlier there used to be 10 per cent vacant posts but now more than 80% editors' posts are vacant. Materiel of about 12 language editions are being sent to respective regional station for approval. Because of such long practice every edition gets delayed by one week to 10 days. Sainik Samachar is publishing since 1909. Who will fill the vacant posts of editors is a mysterious question ?
