whispers in the corridors
Sainik Samachar’s circulation drastically down
The health of ‘Sainik Samachar’, once a prestigious publication of the Ministry of Defence, is not well these days. Some years ago its circulation was over 2 lakh copies per month but it has come down to only 18,000 copies. The magazine publishes in 13 languages. According to sources, its web edition was started last year to arrest the poor circulation. The magazine is facing severe editorial staff crunch. It has the sanctioned strength of 18 Sub-editors and 13 Asstt Editors but at present only 12 Sub-Editors and eight Asstt Editors are working. Some of them are not knowing the concerned language and matter has been sent to the respective region for editing.
