PM Modi' UAE Visit: Energy Security Deals on the Horizon?

Government sources indicate that energy security will be a central pillar of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit to the United Arab Emirates, with key agreements expected to deepen bilateral cooperation in the hydrocarbons sector.
According to officials familiar with the discussions, two significant Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) are likely to be concluded during the visit, focusing on liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) supply and strategic petroleum reserves (SPR). These agreements are aimed at strengthening India’s long-term energy resilience amid ongoing global supply uncertainties.
The proposed LPG MoU is expected to enhance supply stability and diversify sourcing options for India, which remains heavily dependent on imports to meet domestic demand. Meanwhile, the SPR agreement could facilitate greater collaboration in storage, replenishment, and possibly joint investments, ensuring buffer capacity against price shocks and geopolitical disruptions.
The UAE, a key energy partner for India, has already played a role in India’s strategic reserves, including participation in storage facilities. The upcoming visit is likely to build on this foundation, signaling a more structured and forward-looking energy partnership between the two countries.
PM Modi's Austerity Call Amid Iran War Fallout
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal for citizen-led sacrifices echoes past crises. Indira Gandhi repeatedly stressed frugality and resource conservation during food scarcities and conflicts, urging collective restraint for national resilience. In 2013, then-Finance Minister P. Chidambaram aggressively curbed gold imports to tame the current account deficit, later defending calibrated measures over harsh curbs. Manmohan Singh’s era saw appeals for fiscal prudence amid global slowdowns, though often paired with stimulus.
Modi’s call frames personal austerity as patriotic duty amid Hormuz disruptions. While proactive, it revives debates on self-reliance versus structural vulnerabilities. Trends point to tighter fiscal vigilance and possible tariff hikes; long-term, it may accelerate domestic energy and EV pushes.

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and India’s High Commissioner to the Maldives, G. Balasubramanian, are the two key bureaucrats at the forefront of rebuilding and stabilising India–Maldives ties after the sharp “India‑Out” phase.Misri has spearheaded high‑level diplomacy, coordinating the Prime Minister’s state visit to Malé, shaping the reset narrative, and overseeing the extension of a fresh line of credit and debt‑relief measures that underpin the renewed economic partnership.
Balasubramanian, on the ground in Malé, has operationalised the thaw by engaging the Maldivian leadership, managing public‑diplomacy fall‑out from the “India‑Out” campaign, and paving the way for projects in infrastructure, water‑sanitation and connectivity. Together, they have overseen the maiden withdrawal of roughly ₹3,000 crore under the SAARC‑linked currency‑swap‑style framework, signalling India’s serious financial backing and marking a genuine paradigm shift in how the relationship has been recalibrated since the earlier rupture.

Naveen Srivastava, India’s Ambassador to Nepal, now faces a sharper spotlight as Kathmandu’s political churn and rising friction with India make his movements and messaging a matter of renewed attention. He is a 1993-batch Indian Foreign Service officer who assumed charge on 25 June 2022, succeeding Vinay Mohan Kwatra, and serves from the Embassy of India in Kathmandu.
Nepali media is likely to track his public engagements more closely as the new government gradually mounts pressure on India across sensitive bilateral issues. That makes his role more than routine diplomacy: he must manage perceptions, preserve channels of communication, and keep relations functional even as political flip-flops in Nepal complicate the atmosphere.
Srivastava’s background gives him unusual depth for this assignment. He previously worked on East Asia issues in the MEA and participated in India-China boundary talks, experience that can help him navigate a tense and highly scrutinized bilateral environment.

India’s IT services sector may be on the cusp of a significant downsizing cycle, according to industry sources tracking hiring trends and deal pipelines. Top firms are reassessing workforce requirements as artificial intelligence begins to automate large segments of routine coding, testing, and support functions that once drove bulk hiring.
At the same time, geopolitical uncertainties — including slowing demand in key Western markets, protectionist policies, and cautious tech spending by global clients — are compounding the pressure. Several companies have already slowed fresher onboarding, deferred salary hikes, and quietly reduced bench strength.
Sources suggest that mid-level roles could face the sharpest impact, as firms prioritize leaner teams with niche AI, cloud, and cybersecurity skills. The traditional pyramid model of IT services, heavily reliant on large entry-level workforces, is increasingly being questioned.
While companies are unlikely to announce large-scale layoffs publicly, analysts expect “calibrated workforce rationalisation” over the next few quarters. The shift signals not just a cyclical slowdown, but a structural transformation in how India’s $250 billion IT industry operates.

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi’s Standing Committee has approved the declaration of Delhi’s remaining 48 villages as “urban villages”, a move that effectively exempts these areas from agricultural land-use restrictions under the Delhi Land Reforms Act, 1954. The decision paves the way for mixed land use, allowing residential, commercial, and industrial activities in these previously regulated zones.
This development marks a significant first step towards the rollout of the Green Development Area (GDA) policy, aimed at transforming Delhi’s outer village clusters into planned urban extensions while balancing ecological considerations.
Sources indicate that the Delhi bureaucracy has been tasked with preparing detailed redevelopment frameworks aligned with GDA objectives, including infrastructure upgrades, zoning rationalisation, and sustainable urban planning measures.
Importantly, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta is understood to be personally monitoring the process, signalling the political priority attached to the initiative. The move is expected to unlock land value, attract investment, and reshape peri-urban Delhi, even as concerns around unplanned growth, environmental safeguards, and implementation timelines remain under watch.
The Union Cabinet is expected to approve a major ₹37,500 crore incentive package to accelerate coal and lignite gasification, marking a significant step in India’s energy transition strategy. The proposed policy aims to ramp up coal-to-gas conversion capacity and reduce reliance on imported natural gas, aligning with broader goals of energy security and self-reliance.
Government sources indicate that the initiative will support both public and private sector participation, with viability gap funding and financial incentives to make gasification projects commercially feasible. The plan targets the creation of 100 million tonnes of coal gasification capacity by 2030, a substantial scale-up from current levels.
Coal gasification converts solid coal into syngas, which can be used for producing chemicals, fertilizers, and cleaner fuels, offering a more efficient and less polluting alternative to direct coal combustion. The move is also expected to boost domestic coal utilization while lowering the import bill.
If cleared, the policy could catalyse fresh investments in the sector and reshape India’s long-term energy mix.

Kerala.HARWARD vs Hardwork.
While PM Narendra Modi and HM Amit Shah Jodi in BJP is known for promoting Hardwork as a criteria for any party or government posts and also experiment with unknown faces as party is in a powerful position to do so , the Congress on the other side even after repeated losses still believes in Harward and foreign educated backroom advisors who have turned the Congress High command to a LOW command preferring a candidate who has a history of historical election defeats for his party in place of hard working leaders who made Congress comeback in kerala possible. The party lost Assam then MP permanently by such adventures.
How can a Nation trust a party which still cannot decide who will be CM of Kerala from it's own MLAs after getting huge majority when it has to fight against a mighty BJP hardworking election machinery liked by majority of Indians.
Its a strange case where a important figure in high command ie General secretary organization of Congress party himself wants to be CM rather than following a peaceful democratic process as mentioned in the Red colour book of Indian constitution which his party leader Shri Rahul Gandhi always carries and is proud of.
