PM Modi’s Andaaz creates unrest as cabinet reshuffle speculation intensifies

With Cabinet reshuffle on the cards, unrest and anticipation are running high across ministries. Every corner seems to be discussing only one thing: which ministers will continue and who could lose their portfolios. PM Modi’s Andaaz of surprising everyone as seen with several Chief Ministers and BJP President Nitin Nabin, has further fuelled speculation.
Can the NDA Bridge the Two-Thirds Gap in Lok Sabha for Delimitation? Experts say, Highly Unlikely!

Despite ongoing backchannel efforts and signs of political churn, the BJP-led NDA remains short of the crucial two-thirds majority required to pass a constitutional amendment such as the proposed delimitation bill. Even factoring in potential cross-voting and a possible shift by sections of the Trinamool Congress, the alliance is still some distance away from the 362-mark in the Lok Sabha, which serves as the effective threshold when full attendance is assumed.
Government sources indicate that the Centre is keen to move on delimitation, not merely as a structural electoral exercise but as a necessary precursor to implementing the women’s reservation framework ahead of the 2029 general election. The constitutional mandate requires such a bill to secure the backing of at least two-thirds of members present and voting in both Houses, making the arithmetic particularly challenging in a fragmented political landscape.
While the NDA has demonstrated legislative agility in the past through floor management and strategic alliances, the current numbers suggest that any attempt to push through delimitation will hinge on either significant opposition abstentions or a broader political realignment in the months ahead.
Will TMC Rebel–NCPI Bloc Secure Cabinet Berths in Return for NDA Support?
.png)
In a potentially significant political realignment, sources indicate that two Union Cabinet berths may be allocated to leaders from the TMC rebel faction that has recently merged with the Tripura-based Nationalist Congress of People’s India (NCPI). The move is being seen as part of a broader negotiation tied to the group’s decision to extend support to the NDA, effectively boosting the ruling coalition’s numbers in the Lok Sabha.
According to sources familiar with the discussions, the arrangement is framed as a strategic trade-off: political rehabilitation and ministerial representation for the rebels in exchange for legislative backing at a time when every seat carries weight. The inclusion of the NCPI-linked bloc is also expected to give the NDA a marginal but symbolically important edge, particularly in closely contested parliamentary arithmetic.
While there has been no official confirmation from either the BJP leadership or the rebel camp, internal consultations are understood to be at an advanced stage. The development could also have ripple effects in Tripura and West Bengal, where shifting loyalties continue to reshape regional political equations.

Sources indicate that a significant round of handpicked bureaucratic appointments to BJP-ruled states may follow soon after the conclusion of the upcoming Monsoon Session of Parliament. The exercise, reportedly being coordinated at the level of the Union Home Ministry, is expected to focus on aligning administrative machinery with political and governance priorities ahead of a packed electoral calendar.
Insiders suggest that officers perceived as underperforming or misaligned with current policy execution frameworks could be shifted out of key field postings. Many such officials are likely to be reassigned to desk-based roles, particularly through central deputation channels, effectively reducing their on-ground administrative influence.
The move is also being seen as part of a broader attempt to tighten Centre-state coordination in BJP-governed regions, especially in sectors such as law and order, welfare delivery, and infrastructure rollout. While no official communication has been issued yet, bureaucratic circles in several states are already abuzz with speculation over impending reshuffles.
If executed at scale, this could mark one of the more subtle politically calibrated administrative realignments in recent years.

The potential advancement of 2027 Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Goa, Uttarakhand, and Manipur due to the impending Census highlights the intricate interplay between administrative imperatives and political timelines. With Census Phase II set for February 2027, the massive manpower overlap — involving the same officials critical for poll management — makes simultaneous conduct impractical. For the BJP-led governments in most of these states, an early poll window could offer strategic advantages, allowing them to capitalise on current momentum before any anti-incumbency builds. However, it also compresses campaign periods and tests opposition readiness. Ultimately, the Election Commission’s decision will prioritise operational feasibility, underscoring how demographic exercises continue to reshape India’s electoral calendar.

Seeking re-adjudication of a matter that was already decided by the CIC
The appellant sought the date of the receipt of a particular Comprehensive Report and the action taken on it, specifically if any orders were passed based on the Comprehensive Report. The appellant also sought to the specific sections under Industrial Dispute Act, 1947 or under Industrial Dispute (Central) Rules, 1957, under which the copies of the Minutes of Meeting nominating the list of Office Bearers as "Protected workman" for the year, 2023-24, were sought form the Union. The CIC observed that the PIO has furnished adequate and appropriate replies within the framework of the RTI Act and upon the direction of the FAA, additional information was furnished. The CIC noted that an identical issue was disposed by the Bench in File No. CIC/UTPON/C/2023/145647 on 23.03.2024. The CIC held that there is no ground to re-adjudicate a matter that has already been duly decided and where all available information has already been furnished to the Appellant.
Comments
The CIC does not have the power to review its own order. It would be wastage of the time of the CIC to reach out with the same matter repeatedly as it may not yield any different result.
