Two women IPS officers in Jharkhand started their journey as Constables

Twenty four State Police Officers in Jharkhand were awarded Indian Police Service (IPS cadre) and this includes two women Police officers, who started their careers as Constables. Ms Sarojini Lakra and Ms Amelda Ekka, the newly inducted IPS officers, were given 2017 batch. The total cadre strength of IPS in Jharkhand is 158 of which 110 posts are filled via direct recruitment through UPSC and rest 48 are reserved for state Police Officers through promotion. For the first time in Jharkhand, such high number of SPS have been promoted. In a ceremony, the Chief Minister felicitated these newly inducted Police officers and pinned badges to them.
