IAS Shubham Chaudhary's Initiatives to boost Confidence in students

IAS Shubham Chaudhary belongs to the 2014 batch of Rajasthan cadre and is currently posted as a district collector of Sawai Madhopur, Rajasthan. With an exceptional AIR 11 in the UPSC exam, Chaudhary envisions empowering young girls and preparing students across the district for future job opportunities by building their confidence and professional skills.

Her first step in this direction has been fostering coordination between the education department and police department to organize educational cum motivational trips for girls in grades 11-12 “Every Saturday a group of 30-40 girls visits some thana (local police station), where they learn about its inner workings” she explained, "The main aim is to develop confidence in these girls so that they can walk into a police station without hesitation or fear."

There are 13 police stations and it’s a one to two hour visit. Emphasizing the importance of this initiative Chaudhary explained  "Most people feel a certain unease the first time they enter a police station. We want these girls to build confidence so they can face any situation, whether it's eve-teasing, harassment, or any form of assault. God forbid they ever experience domestic violence, but they should feel empowered to seek help at the police station.” She added, "This exposure also builds trust within the community, as not everyone has direct interactions with government agencies."

Looking to the future, Chaudhary has ambitious plans to boost students' confidence and better prepare them for job interviews, which are mandatory in both the government and private sectors. "Sometimes, students miss out on opportunities simply because they struggle to speak up or express themselves well," she explained. Many find it challenging to participate in group discussions, too. Right now, we’re in the process of understanding their needs and figuring out the best way to implement this effectively.”
