HURL wishes to set up urea plant in Assam (UPDATED)

Hindustan Urvarak & Rasayan Limited (HURL) has expressed its intent to participate in a proposed joint venture for setting up a new urea plant in Assam. As per the Department of Fertilizers’ proposal, HURL’s board has shown willingness to join the initiative, with the company expected to hold a 13% equity stake in the venture. The project aims to establish the Namrup IV Fertilizer Plant, an ammonia-urea complex in Namrup, Assam. In line with the government’s Budget announcement this year, the plant is planned to have an annual production capacity of 12.7 lakh tonnes.
