IPS Amneet Kondal Empowers Bathinda’s Youth to Say No to Drugs, Yes to Sports

IPS Amneet Kondal is a 2012 batch Officer of Punjab cadre and is currently posted as senior superintendent of police in Bathinda, Punjab. She is the first women SSP of the district.

Her Mission for Bathinda is to steer the youth in the right direction and encourage them to say no to drugs "We are focusing on motivating young people through sports and preventing them from falling into drug abuse," she says.

Aligning with state’s larger mission, she adds  “We are addressing the drug issue across Punjab because of the prevailing narrative that drug abuse is widespread in the state."

To achieve a Drug-Free Bathinda, Kondal actively organises various extracurricular activities to engage the youth in positive ways “say yes to life, no to drugs,” she quoted.

Under her leadership a district-level Hockey Tournament was organised to inspire youth, celebrate sportsmanship and promote a healthy lifestyle. Additionally,a mini-marathon, basketball match was also recently held. "We consistently organize such events” She said “Now, the plan is to expand on a much larger scale across Punjab by forming clusters and hosting such events to positively engage youth's attention"
