IPS Kiran Khare Village Camera Network Sets New Policing Model in Jayashankar Bhupalpally (Telangana)

IPS Kiran Khare is a 2017 Batch Officer of Telangana cadre and is currently posted as  Superintendent of Police in Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Telangana. His Mission for the district is to make a secure and self-reliant surveillance network through community participation. “In the last 4–5 months, around 2,500 cameras have been installed.” he said

This initiative focuses on setting up community CCTV cameras across villages and is driven through collaborative efforts of community and police. Under this each village formed its own team, created a dedicated bank account and began collecting funds locally. Kare further explained “From the police side, we are only coordinating and guiding them — helping them understand how to raise funds, manage the bank account, and involve community members. We also assist them with guidance on maintenance and repairs”

Additionally, Whatsapp groups have been created to connect technicians with the village level team for smooth communication and quick troubleshooting.

Further strengthening this, is the strong implementation of state government initiative that mandates every shopkeeper operating a commercial establishment to install CCTV cameras. “This ensures surveillance coverage in both commercial areas and key transit routes.” He explained

Under Kare leadership, a digital camera training programme has been launched and based on that specialised cameras have also been deployed.
