Dheeraj Singh Garbyal reviews three projects in Uttarakhand (UPDATED)

Secretary Tourism/Chief Executive Officer, Uttarakhand Tourism Development Council, Dheeraj Singh Garbyal conducted a review meeting on three important projects: These included the preparations for the Nanda Devi Raj Jat Yatra, Adarsh Champawat Project, and the Dehradun-Mussoorie Ropeway Project. Review of Nanda Devi Raj Jat Yatra Preparations: Garbyal reviewed the preparations for the Nanda Devi Raj Jat Yatra, a major religious and cultural pilgrimage of Uttarakhand held once every 12 years. The last yatra was organized in 2014, and the next one is scheduled for 2026. The yatra, which began in 1886, draws a large number of devotees — an estimated 4,00,000 pilgrims are expected in 2026. He directed that all ongoing construction works along the yatra route must be completed on time to avoid any inconvenience to the devotees. He emphasized that bridges along the route should be audited so they can be repaired or strengthened as needed before the yatra. Additionally, he instructed that a high-level medical camp be established at Wan village, with smaller medical camps to be set up along the entire yatra route to ensure the health and safety of the pilgrims. The meeting was also attended by the District Magistrate, Chamoli and the District Tourism Development Officer, Chamoli. Adarsh Champawat Project: Regarding the Adarsh Champawat Project, Garbyal instructed that ongoing construction works in Champawat district be completed within the stipulated time frame. He also stressed the need to ensure local community participation in the project. He directed that Adventure Tourism and promotion of local cultural heritage be emphasized so that Champawat can be developed as a hallmark tourism model for Uttarakhand. Dehradun-Mussoorie Ropeway Project: To make travel between Dehradun and Mussoorie more convenient and safer, Garbyal also reviewed the Dehradun-Mussoorie Ropeway Project. He instructed that all concerned departments coordinate effectively to ensure that the construction work is completed on time.
