Nilabhra Dasgupta joins as Dy Chairman, Deendayal Port Authority

Nilabhra Dasgupta, IRS (2008 batch), has assumed the charge as the Deputy Chairman of Deendayal Port Authority, Kandla, on 1st July 2025. Prior to this, he served as the Deputy Chairman of Paradip Port Authority from 11th May 2023. An officer of the Indian Revenue Service (IRS), Dasgupta holds a Master’s degree in Linguistics from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi. He was pursuing a Direct Ph.D. when he cleared the prestigious Civil Services Examination in his very first attempt. In addition, he holds an LL.B. from Gujarat University and has also completed his LL.M. During his tenure at Paradip Port Authority, he emphasized elevating the Port’s performance and fostering a harmonious environment within the local port community to drive growth and development. With over 13 years of distinguished service, he has held several important and sensitive assignments in tax policy, administration and enforcement. His wide-ranging experience spans Administration, Vigilance, Infrastructure, Enforcement, Corporate and International Taxation. Dasgupta has demonstrated a remarkable ability to work effectively within highly unionized environments, maintaining close coordination with unions while achieving organizational goals and key result areas. He has significant expertise in infrastructure project implementation and was recognized with a Certificate of Merit for developing a Litigation Management Software system to streamline the processing and monitoring of litigation data and deadlines. His extensive work in International Taxation, Transfer Pricing and Corporate Assessment has honed his ability to operate in ITES-enabled environments under strict deadlines. In his previous role as Additional Director (Investigation), Income Tax Department, Ahmedabad, Dasgupta planned and led several high-stakes enforcement operations. These assignments required coordination with multiple agencies and handling large volumes of classified, time-sensitive data. He successfully conducted one of the largest cumulative cash seizures in the Gujarat region during this tenure.
