Marathon man Amar Subba maps Adi Kailash High Altitude Marathon Route in Uttarakhand (UPDATED)

The Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board (UTDB) proudly announces the successful completion of a 40-kilometre trial run by renowned marathoner Amar Subba from Sikkim, popularly known as the Marathon Man. The trial was conducted on July 28, 2025, covering the challenging high-altitude route from Gunji (10,500 ft) to Adi Kailash and Parvati Kund (17,513 ft). This trial was part of the route mapping for the upcoming Adi Kailash High Altitude Marathon, scheduled to be held on 2nd November,2025Subba was specially invited by the Government of Uttarakhand and the UTDB to lend his expertise in extreme endurance sports for planning this unique sporting event. His participation underscores the state’s commitment to promoting adventure and high-altitude sports tourism in Uttarakhand’s frontier regions. In a statement issued by the Amarathon Academy of Sikkim (AMAS), Subba expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Uttarakhand authorities for entrusting him with this important responsibility and providing the opportunity to contribute to this landmark initiative. Adding to the significance of this collaboration, Mr. Subba recently achieved international acclaim by securing Second Position in the World’s Highest Everest Marathon held on May 29, 2025, further establishing him as one of India’s leading high-altitude endurance athletes. On this occasion, Secretary Tourism (Uttarakhand) Dhiraaj Singh Garbyal highlighted that the Adi Kailash High Altitude Marathon will not only highlight the pristine beauty and spiritual significance of the Adi Kailash region but also place Uttarakhand firmly on the global map of Adventure tourism.
