1992 Civil Servants rule Delhi

Delhi’s bureaucracy is witnessing a remarkable wave of leadership as officers from the 1992 batch hold sway over its key posts. Rajeev Verma, AGMUT cadre IAS, was appointed Chief Secretary of Delhi on October 1, 2025, bringing his experience from Chandigarh, Puducherry, and prior stints as Delhi’s Finance and Revenue Secretary to the role. His career in ministries including Defence, Power, and Health underscores a record of central and state expertise, crucial for governance and policy execution in the capital.

On the law enforcement front, Satish Golcha—a distinguished 1992 batch IPS officer—was recently elevated as Commissioner of Delhi Police, a strategic move following high-profile security lapses and positioned to reinforce the city’s law and order. In urban administration, Ashwani Kumar, also a 1992 batch IAS, serves as Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, after significant roles as Divisional Commissioner and Additional Chief Secretary (Home/Revenue) in the Delhi government.

The prominence of the 1992 batch extends to pivotal positions in finance and planning—Bipul Pathak, another AGMUT cadre officer, steers Delhi’s economic strategy as Additional Chief Secretary (Finance/Planning). This dominance reflects a blend of administrative depth, technical acumen, and continuity, strongly shaping Delhi’s bureaucratic and civic leadership.
