Defence procurement proposals worth approx ₹79,000 cr

The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, approved capital procurement proposals worth approximately ₹79,000 crore to enhance tri-service capabilities. This includes Acceptance of Necessity (AoN) for the Indian Army’s Nag Missile System (Tracked) Mk-II (NAMIS), Ground Based Mobile Electronic Intelligence (ELINT) System (GBMES), and High Mobility Vehicles (HMVs) with Material Handling Cranes; Indian Navy’s Landing Platform Docks (LPDs), 30mm Naval Surface Guns (NSGs), Advanced Lightweight Torpedoes (ALWTs), Electro-Optical Infra-Red Search and Track (EOIR) systems, and smart ammunition for 76mm Super Rapid Gun Mounts; and Indian Air Force’s Collaborative Long Range Target Saturation/Destruction System (CLRTS/DS). This marks a significant boost to indigenisation under Aatmanirbhar Bharat, with 70-80% domestic content mandated.
