Haryana to get new DGP on January 1

All eyes are on Haryana as the state will get new Director General of Police (DGP) on January 1, 2026. The list of IPS officers to be sent to UPSC is expected to include the name of Shatrujeet Kapur, the former DGP who was sent on leave earlier. The 1991-batch officer Kapur has still 11 months before retirement. The state government is preparing a list of almost half-a-dozen IPS officers as the incumbent OP Singh, who is holding the post of the acting DGP from October 14, 2025 is retiring on December 31. He is a 1992 batch officer. The other officials eligible to be included in the list are SK Jain, Ajay Singhal, Alok Mittal, AS Chawla, Navdeep Singh Virk and Kala Ramachandran. According to the UPSC guidelines, the list sent by the state should include only those senior IPS officials, who have completed at least 30 years of service and have 6 months left for retirement.
