Key Vacancies (7) Director, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI)
The extended tenure of CBI Director Praveen Sood ends in May 2026. Sood is a 1986-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the Karnataka cadre. He was appointed as the Director of the CBI on 25 May 2023 for an initial two-year term and was later given one-year extension.
Who will succeed CBI Director Praveen Sood?
G.P. Singh, a 1991-batch Assam-Meghalaya cadre IPS officer, is seen as a strong contender.
Rajeev Sharma, Rajasthan DGP (1990 Batch), may also be considered.
Name of another serving DG of a state is also in circulation.
