India’s largest iron ore producer and Responsible Miner NMDC, marked the 77th Republic Day with patriotic fervour and a spirit of progress at its corporate office in Hyderabad and mining projects across the country, reaffirming its role as a key contributor to India’s infrastructure growth and sustainable future. Amitava Mukherjee, CMD, unfurled the National Flag at the Head Office in the presence of NMDC’s senior management and employees. The event was graced by Vinay Kumar, Director (Technical), Joydeep Dasgupta Director (Production), Mrs G Priyadarshini, Director (HR), C Neelakanta Reddy, CVO, and other senior officials and employees. Addressing the gathering, Amitava Mukherjee highlighted NMDC’s journey of growth anchored in responsibility and innovation. He said, “Scientific, sustainable, and spreading smiles, our company is emerging as the global benchmark of Responsible Mining. NMDC will be contributing 50+ million tonnes in FY25 to the infrastructure aspirations of the country. As of December 2025, we produced 36.9 million tonnes of ore - outpacing the production over CPLY by 20 percent. In January 2026, NMDC commenced mining operations in Tokisud North Coal Block, Jharakhand - introducing a new commodity, new mine, and new geography to its portfolio. And, this is just the start of our plans for the year.” He further mentioned, “We have set a high standard, one that inspires confidence and admiration both within and beyond NMDC. And for that we earned the coveted Great Place to Work Certification” As a part of the Republic Day celebration, NMDC organised the ‘Republic Day Run’ across its projects in Chhattisgarh and Karnataka, symbolising unity, fitness, and collective progress. The run at Bacheli and Kirandul Projects was graced by NMDC’s Brand Ambassador and two-time World Champion boxer, Ms Nikhat Zareen, inspiring participants with her presence and message of resilience. The Republic Day Run underscored NMDC’s commitment to holistic health, employee well-being, and strong community engagement, reflecting the organization’s people-centric approach. Further strengthening the spirit of camaraderie and nation-building, NMDC in association with The Hindu, organised Chess competitions for students, encouraging strategic thinking and sportsmanship. Winners were felicitated during the ceremony, celebrating young talent and fostering teamwork. The company also hosted games for the employees and the winners were felicitated by the chief guest. Republic Day celebrations across NMDC locations echoed the organisation’s unwavering commitment to India’s growth, sustainable mining practices, and an inclusive future, as NMDC continues to mine responsibly while powering the nation’s progress.
