Vikramotsav 2026 to feature India’s highest monetary cultural award of ₹1.01 Cr (UPDATED)
Ujjain is set to host the grand 139-day Vikramotsav from February 12 to June 30, 2026, making it the longest cultural festival ever organised in Madhya Pradesh. Beginning with the celebration of Mahashivratri, the festival blends devotion, heritage, art, and environmental awareness, eventually leading into the Jal Ganga conservation campaign. The grand inauguration on February 15 will feature renowned composer Pritam performing in devotion to Lord Mahadev.
More than 41 diverse cultural and social events will take place during the festival, featuring performances by over 4,000 artists. Major attractions include theatre festivals, puppet showcases, national poetry gatherings, mythological film festivals, exhibitions, Mahakal forest fair, and multiple cultural and academic forums celebrating India’s heritage.
The highlight of Vikramotsav is the Samrat Vikramaditya International Award, carrying a prize of ₹1 crore 1 lakh, making it the highest monetary cultural honor in the country. Alongside this, a national award of ₹21 lakh and three state-level awards of ₹5 lakh each will also be presented.
With its unmatched duration, cultural diversity, and record-setting awards, Vikramotsav 2026 is poised to become one of India’s most remarkable celebrations of tradition and cultural excellence.
