AI posing threat to employment of translators

AI threat to two lakh translators’ jobs AI threats to jobs in the European Union centre of translation & interpretation industry is real. In India, more than 200,000 translators and interpreters jobs are likely to be affected. Warnings of end of the human brain and its use: technology, they claim, works faster than human output, flawless, error free, accurate and above all cheap. The industry needs the technology as they offer a large number of these jobs in comparison to the government. The NEP has opened the floodgates for school/college textbook translation. Ultimately it would be the private publishers who will get the largest chunk of the new business for making text books available to students in time. With more than 200 languages (Major+minor) it opens opportunities unprecedented. Machine translation and interpretation will be done by Artificial Intelligence. Government can no longer remain inert to these warnings to more than 200000+ jobs.
