MEA omn High Alert: Can Activate Contingency Plans to Repatriate Indians Stuck in West Asia in less than 24 Hours as per Capacity Reports? (UPDATED)

With the West Asian conflict rapidly escalating following US-Israeli strikes on Iran, the Ministry of External Affairs is leaving nothing to chance. Sources tell ET Now that the MEA is actively exploring all available options to ensure the safe repatriation of Indian nationals currently stranded across the affected region. According to sources, comprehensive contingency plans covering both airlifting and phased displacement of Indian citizens, are already in place and can be operationalised in under 24 hours should the situation deteriorate further. The plans are believed to include coordination with Indian Air Force assets, Air India, and diplomatic missions across Gulf nations. This mirrors India's earlier Operation Devi Shakti and Operation Ganga frameworks, which proved effective in rapidly evacuating citizens during previous crises. The government is closely monitoring the evolving situation on an hour-by-hour basis, sources added.
