Lok Sabha passes bill to recognise Amaravati as Andhra capital (UPDATED)

The Lok Sabha on Wednesday passed a bill to recognise Amaravati as the sole and permanent capital of Andhra Pradesh. The bill, which will scuttle any future bid to alter the decision of making Amaravati the sole and permanent capital, was passed in the Lok Sabha by a voice vote. The Congress, the BJP as well as the TDP expressed support for it.
