POWERGRID wins Green World Award for Excellence in Climate Change initiatives (UPDATED)
Gurugram: Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), a Maharatna CPSE under Ministry of Power, has been honored with the prestigious Green World Award 2026 in the “Climate Change” category. The award was presented at a ceremony held at Cardiff Castle, Wales, U.K., recognizing POWERGRID’s sustained commitment to environmental stewardship and adoption of climate-responsive operational practices. The award was received by Vipul Singh, Sr. DGM (CSR), and Manu Sinha, DGM (CSR). POWERGRID’s recognition in the Climate Change category reflects its initiatives promoting energy-efficient transmission infrastructure, and integrating sustainability into project execution.
 
The Green World Awards, instituted by The Green Organisation, U.K., are among the globally recognised environmental honours, celebrating organisations that demonstrate measurable progress in sustainability, carbon reduction, and environmental management.
 
As of 31 March 2026, POWERGRID has commissioned and is operating 291 Sub-Stations and more than 1,84,960 ckm transmission lines and 6,24,016 MVA of transformation capacity. With the adoption of the latest technological tools and techniques, enhanced use of automation and digital solutions, POWERGRID has been able to maintain an average transmission system availability of more than 99.84%.
