Salem Police Seize Nearly 10 Kg marijuana, Intensify Anti-Drug Operations

The Salem District Police under the leadership of SP Gautam Goyal continues to intensify crime prevention and anti-drug enforcement measures across the district through coordinated action and public safety initiatives.

As part of anti-drug enforcement efforts, the Attur Rural Police arrested three persons involved in smuggling ganja on a Pulsar motorcycle in Attur. The accused were remanded to judicial custody, and 7 kilograms of ganja were seized from them. In last 72 hours, Nearly 10 kg seized from various locations

In another major operation, the Salem District Police arrested a six-member gang involved in illegally procuring pain relief tablets and selling them for intoxicating purposes. A total of 839 tablets were seized during the operation. The Salem District Police have warned that stringent legal action will be taken against those involved in the illegal sale and consumption of intoxicating substances.

As part of ongoing crime prevention initiatives, CCTV camera installation drives are being carried out across Salem District. During the last three days alone, CCTV cameras have been installed at 69 locations in various parts of the district to strengthen surveillance and enhance public safety.

Further, areas with inadequate lighting during night hours, including bus stands, marketplaces, and other public-use locations, have been identified. In coordination with local bodies and volunteers, the Police have initiated measures to install lights in such vulnerable areas. Over the last three days, 140 locations were identified, and lighting facilities have been provided in 55 places.

Nearly 350 rowdies have been rounded up so far and stern warning has been issued to them. 7 have been also remanded in judicial custody

The Salem District Police reaffirm their commitment to maintaining law and order, preventing crime, and ensuring the safety and security of the public.
