Totladoh -Degraded land turns wildlife abode: IFS Sreelakshmi

Totladoh Colony Restoration in Pench Tiger Reserve (PTR), Maharashtra, is a major attraction for tourists today. But till 2018, this 250-hectare sprawling stretch of land was occupied by certain department quarters and labour camps, hampering the eco-restoration project. Pench was declared a National Park in 1975 and a tiger reserve in 1999.

It were the untiring efforts of 2008 batch IFS officer Sreelakshmi, who served as Field Director PTR, that the area got back its natural tiger habitat status. Not only this, the eco restoration project has bagged the Skoch Gold award.

IFS Sreelakshmi has just moved from the tiger capital of world, Nagpur, to Kolhapur as Chief Conservator of Forest.
