₹20 crore drugs and ₹362 crore assets seized: IPS Vinod Kumar Meena’s Zero Tolerance narcotics Strategy in Mandsaur

Mandsaur's crackdown on narcotics has delivered significant results with major drug seizures, busting of manufacturing units, attachment of properties worth hundreds of crores and the dismantling of trafficking networks operating across multiple states. Under the leadership of SP Vinod Kumar Meena, a 2019-batch IPS officer, the strategy goes beyond seizures to target the entire ecosystem of the drug trade from production and transportation to financing and distribution.

“Mandsaur Police works with zero tolerance for narcotics. In any case,  we trace out forward and backward linkages. It's not just that we have seized it and will stop there. We will unravel the entire chain.”He quoted

In one of the most significant recent operations, Mandsaur police busted an interstate drug trafficking syndicate with links spanning West Bengal, Bihar, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Uttarakhand. Acting on intelligence inputs, the police recovered drugs worth nearly ₹20 crore and arrested five accused. Additionally, police also found that the drugs were hidden in specially made compartments inside the vehicles to avoid detection.

The seizure is part of a broader anti-narcotics campaign. 74 cases were registered under his leadership related to illicit narcotic drugs, and action was taken not only against traffickers but also against the proceeds generated from the trade. “We have seized ₹362 crore worth of property. These are properties purchased from proceeds of illicit narcotic drugs,” he said.

The district has also witnessed significant recoveries, including 21 kg of smack and 12 kg of MD, along with action against illegal manufacturing units and the supply chain. “The major highlight is Garoth's factory. We have also busted chemical units and an MD factory”. Police have recovered precursor chemicals including acetic anhydride and trichloroacetaldehyde, along with nearly 1,800 litres of chemicals used in the production process.

With sustained enforcement, network-based investigations and asset forfeiture measures, IPS Vinod Kumar Meena is leading a comprehensive campaign that is making Mandsaur closer to its goal of becoming a narcotic-free district. “We are working on DGP Sir's vision that we have to be narcotic-free. From the buyer to the seller, we work on all fronts”
