Praveen Sood is the longest-serving CBI Director of the 21st century with a second consecutive one-year extension. Sood’s tenure will now run till May 2027, taking his total tenure to four years. No CBI Director since the 2000s has served for such a long duration. Sood is a 1986 batch IPS officer of the Karnataka cadre.
