whispers in the corridors

With the landmark India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) taking effect on July 15, 2026, Maharashtra is uniquely positioned to benefit the most. As India’s premier industrial and manufacturing powerhouse, the state stands ready to leverage this historic pact to supercharge its diverse regional economy.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis highlighted that the agreement opens massive avenues for Maharashtra’s exporters, MSMEs, entrepreneurs, and farmers. Since the UK has immediately eliminated tariffs on nearly 99% of Indian exports, the state's highly developed, export-oriented sectors will gain unprecedented, duty-free market access. Key local industries including engineering goods, pharmaceuticals, textiles, gems and jewellery, food processing, agricultural exports, and key IT services will secure a powerful global edge.
Furthermore, the phased reduction of import tariffs on select UK goods protects domestic manufacturing sensitivities while encouraging technology transfer.
