Govt Likely Exploring Fresh Route to Reintroduce Women’s Reservation Amendments ?

The government is expected to explore alternative legal and legislative pathways to reintroduce amendments related to the Women’s Reservation Bill, according to sources familiar with the matter. With the current framework facing procedural and constitutional constraints, legal experts within the government are actively examining possible options to revive the proposed changes in a future session of Parliament.

Sources indicate that consultations are underway involving senior legal advisors and constitutional experts to assess viable routes that would withstand judicial scrutiny while aligning with the broader political objective of enhancing women’s representation. The focus is on identifying mechanisms that can address earlier concerns without reopening contentious debates that could stall progress.

While no final decision has been taken, the internal deliberations suggest a calibrated approach, balancing legal soundness with political feasibility. The move, if pursued, could signal the government’s continued commitment to advancing gender representation reforms, even as it navigates complex legislative and constitutional challenges in the process.

Manickam Tagore and K. C. Venugopal Managed the Floor for Congress and INDI Alliance which Led to Not Absentees for the 131st Amendment BilL!

Manickam Tagore and K. C. Venugopal emerged as key Congress organizers in the Lok Sabha, helping keep the party’s and the INDIA bloc’s numbers intact during crucial voting moments. Working behind the scenes, they focused on whip enforcement, attendance, and coordination so that MPs remained present in the House and no votes were lost to absentees.

Their role was less about public speeches and more about disciplined floor management. By ensuring regular communication with MPs, tracking attendance closely, and aligning the party’s strategy with the larger opposition bloc, they helped maintain unity at a time when every vote mattered. Such parliamentary coordination is often decisive in close contests, especially during high-stakes sessions and contentious bill negotiations.

Their effort reflected the importance of internal discipline in a fragmented opposition. In practical terms, they functioned as the political “traffic controllers” of the Congress side, keeping members in place and the voting line steady

BJP to corner Opposition on the falling of Women's Reservation Amendment Bill in West Bengal?

The BJP is actively using the failure of the women’s reservation amendment bill in Parliament to corner the opposition ahead of the West Bengal Assembly elections. By foregrounding the Nari Shakti Vandan law and then highlighting that the proposed constitutional amendment did not secure the required two thirds majority blaming the Trinamool Congress, Congress, and Left for blocking it party leaders are trying to frame the opposition as anti women and anti empowerment.

On the ground in Bengal, this narrative dovetails with Prime Minister Modi’s pitch that 33 percent reservation will systematically institutionalise women’s political representation, juxtaposed against Mamata Banerjee’s welfare scheme driven appeal to women voters. The BJP’s strategy is to position itself as the party that delivered constitutional level empowerment while suggesting that the opposition’s alleged obstruction has denied Bengal women a structural guarantee of power, hoping to loosen the opposition’s grip on its core women voter base.

IAS Mohammad Aaquib Drives School Education, SHG Livelihood Push in Border District Champhai, Mizoram

Located along the India-Myanmar border, IAS Mohammad Aaquib, a 2021 Batch Officer of AGMUT Cadre and currently posted as collector of Champhai District in Mizoram is focusing on two key areas: education and livelihood. Keeping in mind the realities of a border district, he quoted “Champhai is a strategically important yet a close-knit district ,if we can bring small but meaningful change in education and create sustainable livelihoods, the impact over time could be significant”

Under the state’s District Transformation Programme, the administration has launched “Project Elite,” covering around 60-70 schools. The initiative adopts a structured approach, foundational literacy and numeracy at the primary level and stronger science and mathematics learning at middle and secondary levels. Teachers are being trained first, followed by development of practical learning modules to make classrooms more activity based and engaging. “Education takes time. We are starting with teacher training and expect improvements over the academic cycle”

On the livelihood front, multiple small-scale initiatives are being pursued. Women linked to self-help groups are being trained in stitching, T-shirt printing and cloth bag making using recycled fabric. "We don’t want this to end with training. The idea is to help some groups build a small brand and sustain their work" he says. The district is also exploring ways to provide machinery, help in marketing and link these groups with institutional orders such as school-related requirements.

The district is also looking at strengthening sericulture and horticulture.Solar powered support for sericulture farmers in select villages, while greenhouse-based tomato cultivation aim to introduce modern techniques. With Champhai already producing grapes, cabbage, tomatoes and passion fruit, technology-driven interventions are expected to boost productivity and incomes.

With these initiatives ,IAS Mohammad Aaquib aims to bring meaningful and long lasting growth to the district.

Dinesh Trivedi as High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Signals New Political Priorities !

Dinesh Trivedi’s likely posting to Dhaka marks more than a routine diplomatic reshuffle; it suggests that New Delhi wants a more politically calibrated approach to Bangladesh at a sensitive moment in bilateral ties. By choosing a senior BJP leader and former Union minister, the Modi government appears to be signaling that the Bangladesh mission is now high-priority and politically significant, not just a standard career-diplomat assignment.

The move also reflects India’s intent to engage the new political reality in Dhaka with greater flexibility and sharper messaging. Trivedi’s profile, especially his past association with West Bengal politics and his experience in government, could help India manage both diplomatic and regional sensitivities more effectively.

Replacing Pranay Verma, a seasoned career diplomat now headed to Brussels, reinforces the idea that India is separating its Bangladesh policy from a purely bureaucratic template. In effect, the appointment points to a strategy built on political signal, direct engagement, and a more assertive neighbourhood policy.

Delimitation exercise

What delimitation exercise was conducted under congress led UPA? The party that opposed women reservations for years when congress was in power suddenly cares about women. On one hand they are deleting voters calling them Bangladeshi and on the other side they are okay with using 2011 census.
