Telangana's Sweeping IAS Reshuffle Rings Early Bells for Cabinet Reshuffle?

A massive bureaucratic overhaul in Telangana, involving the  reshuffling of over 40 IAS officers, has set political circles abuzz  with speculation of an imminent cabinet reshuffle in the state. In  Telangana's political playbook, large-scale administrative  realignments have historically preceded significant changes at the  council of ministers level, and seasoned observers are reading this  latest churn along similar lines. The scale and timing of the  reshuffle. affecting officers across key departments, suggests a  deliberate recalibration of the administrative machinery by Chief  Minister Revanth Reddy's government. Political analysts and Congress  insiders are now closely watching for signals from the high command in  Delhi, as any cabinet expansion or rejig is unlikely to happen without  Central leadership's clearance.

Flight Data Points to West Asia conflict expanding for a longer time?

Aviation data and on-ground reporting from across the region paint a  grim picture, the West Asian conflict is far from a brief flare-up.  Following coordinated US-Israeli strikes on Iran on February 28, at  least eight countries shuttered their airspace, with Flightradar24  itself crashing under the surge in military tracking traffic. India's  DGCA extended its advisory restricting 11 airspaces until March 2,  with experts warning the timeline will stretch further. Aviation  analytics firm Cirium recorded nearly 40% flight cancellations to  Israel alone. Airlines have already begun long-term rerouting,  mirroring patterns seen during the Ukraine war, a conflict now in its  fourth year. Flightradar24's own analysis warns any expansion of  hostilities could fundamentally reshape global aviation corridors for  years.

MEA omn High Alert: Can Activate Contingency Plans to Repatriate Indians Stuck in West Asia in less than 24 Hours as per Capacity Reports?

With the West Asian conflict rapidly escalating following US-Israeli  strikes on Iran, the Ministry of External Affairs is leaving nothing  to chance. Sources tell ET Now that the MEA is actively exploring all  available options to ensure the safe repatriation of Indian nationals  currently stranded across the affected region. According to sources,  comprehensive contingency plans covering both airlifting and phased  displacement of Indian citizens, are already in place and can be  operationalised in under 24 hours should the situation deteriorate  further. The plans are believed to include coordination with Indian  Air Force assets, Air India, and diplomatic missions across Gulf  nations. This mirrors India's earlier Operation Devi Shakti and  Operation Ganga frameworks, which proved effective in rapidly  evacuating citizens during previous crises. The government is closely  monitoring the evolving situation on an hour-by-hour basis, sources  added.

International Metals and Metallurgy Summit on Advanced Rolling Technologies (UPDATED)

IMMS 2026 organized by the Indian Institute of Metals (IIM) – Delhi Chapter, was successfully held at the India International Centre, New Delhi, under the theme “Advanced Rolling Technologies for Metals & Alloys.”

The programme commenced with ceremonial lamp lighting followed by the Welcome Address by Manoranjan Ram, Chairman, IIM–Delhi Chapter. He highlighted the role of IIM and its Delhi Chapter in knowledge dissemination and emphasized the importance of the conference theme in addressing steel industry challenges, adoption of latest rolling technologies, capital investment requirements, application of Artificial Intelligence, direct rolling techniques, and integration of renewable energy in the metals sector.

Guests of Honour Gajendra Panwar, CEO & MD, Danieli India, outlined Danieli Group’s strong presence in India with multiple rolling mill projects and reiterated commitment towards Make in India. Navneet Singh, Managing Director, Yogi Ji Digi, presented advanced digital solutions supporting modern rolling processes including strip processing and coating technologies.

Delivering the Keynote Address, V R Sharma, Vice Chairman, Jindal Steel Limited Advisory Services, stressed the need for dedicated Engineering and Design centres in India for Steel Plants and advocated progressive transition towards green steel production.

The Inaugural Address was delivered by Chief Guest A K Panda, Director (Finance) with Additional Charge of Director (Commercial), Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), who observed that while the global and Chinese steel markets are experiencing degrowth, India’s steel industry continues to register a healthy growth of around 8 percent. He highlighted that India’s steelmaking capacity is expanding rapidly—from about 150 MTPA to a projected 300 MTPA over the next three to four years—with all major steel producers, including SAIL, undertaking significant expansion initiatives, and noted that the current increase in production is outpacing domestic demand growth, resulting in higher exports. Aligning this progress with the vision of the nation under Atmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India, he emphasized the importance of import substitution through the development of high-grade, value-added steel for electrical, defence, automotive, and aerospace applications. He further emphasised the focus on green steel through sustained decarbonisation efforts, adoption of cleaner and energy-efficient technologies, increased use of renewable energy, process optimisation, and plant modernisation to reduce carbon emissions, stressing that sustainability and green technology will be decisive in shaping the future competitiveness of the steel industry, and reaffirmed SAIL’s firm resolve to pursue environmentally responsible and sustainable growth.

The IMMS 2026 Souvenir was released during the inaugural session. The international conference witnessed participation from leading industry experts from India, technologists from India and Europe, researchers, academicians and professionals, fostering discussions on sustainable and future-ready rolling technologies for the steel industry.

Information needed for resolution of a legal dispute

Appellant sought information about Foreign Currency payment made in Indian Rupees to the amount of INR 70,000 around October 1978. The SBI informed that the information could not be retrieved being 40 years old. The appellant argued that the proof of the averred remittance to her father was crucial in the light of a property dispute pending disposal before court of law. The CIC held that the issue for consideration before it is grant of relief as per the RTI Act and does not extended to the resolution of legal disputes.

Comments

It has been argued before the CIC that information needed for dispensation of justice should be provided as the same is in public interest. It has also been contended that till the destruction memo is produced, the responsibility of maintaining the records rests with the public authority.
