Assam CM's brother Sushanta Biswa Sarma transferred as Barpeta SP

In a key administrative reshuffle, Assam state's Home (A) Department has issued an official notification transferring senior Assam Police Service (APS) officer Sushanta Biswa Sarma—a 2002-batch officer and the younger brother of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma—and appointing him as the new Senior Superintendent of Police (SP) of Barpeta district. Sarma previously served as the Senior SP within the Crime Investigation Department (CID), where he oversaw cases involving Crime Against Women and Children across Assam. His new posting, which transitions him from statewide criminal investigation to district-level police leadership, will officially take effect from the date he assumes charge.
