NLCIL leads mass cleaning drive at Neyveli
More than 5,000 NLC India Limited (NLCIL) employees, workmen, students, CISF personnel and community members joined a mass cleaning drive at Neyveli under the Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 campaign.
The programme was flagged off at 7 am at Anna Thidal, Block-17, Neyveli Township, by Samir Swarup, Director (HR) and Director (Power) Addl. Charge, in the presence of Rajesh Pratap Singh Sisodia, Director (P&P), NLCIL.
The drive brought together employees and workmen from NLCIL’s industrial and service units, representatives of recognised trade unions, Engineers & Officers’ Associations, Welfare Federations representing SC/ST, OBC & ST, along with Indcoserve, Howsicos, contract workers, CISF personnel, teachers, school students and members of the public.
Addressing participants, Samir Swarup said cleanliness should become part of everyday life rather than remain limited to a campaign. He stressed that sustained public participation was essential for creating a lasting culture of cleanliness. He also welcomed the participation of school students, saying their involvement reflected growing awareness of cleanliness and civic responsibility among the younger generation.
Following the flag-off, participants carried out cleaning activities at various locations across Neyveli Township. The large participation reflected a collective effort to maintain cleaner and healthier surroundings.
NLCIL is organising Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 at Neyveli and its subsidiary projects from September 17 to October 2, 2026, in line with the objectives of the Swachh Bharat Mission. The initiative aims to promote cleanliness, civic responsibility, environmental awareness and active community participation.
