SC examining Home Ministry’s deployment of IPS officers to CAPF

The Supreme Court is examining MHA's deployment of IPS officers to CAPFs despite its earlier direction to progressively reduce such deputations. The MHA affidavit puts the number since the May 2025 judgment at 46 officers. Of these 13 IPS deputations are in BSF, 11 in CISF, 9 in CRPF, 6 in ITBP adn 7 in SSB. The Supreme Court has asked MHA to explain why these appointments continued despite its earlier direction to reduce deputation positions. The next significant judicial checkpoint is 22 September 2026.
