US Senate passes punishing legislation against Russia; India waits to ascertain impact
The US Senate approved a sanctions package punishing Russia for the Ukraine war on Friday. The campaign was moved by the late Sen. Lindsey Graham to extend US support for Ukraine and corner Russian President Vladimir Putin. Passed 86-11, the bipartisan legislation aims to penalise countries that buy Russian oil, gas and other exports in a bid to economically choke Prez Putin and Moscow.
