Who will be the new HDFC Bank CEO?

Who will be the new HDFC Bank CEO?

1. HDFC Bank Deputy MD, Kaizad Bharucha is the most credible internal favourite. He is not a newly manufactured successor. He has been with the bank since 1995, is its longest-serving executive board member and is already at the Deputy MD level.

2. Jimmy Tata: This is the name that changes the picture. Sources said that Bharucha and Jimmy Tata are being considered as two internal candidates and may have been communicated to the RBI. If that is correct, Tata is no longer just a corridor whisper—he becomes a serious official contender.

3. An external banker or private-sector banking heavyweight: This is not one identified person yet, but a senior executive from another large private bank or a major financial institution. The Board may want to put up a strong external name alongside the internal choices, particularly because the RBI ultimately approves the appointment.

4. Srinivasan Vaidyanathan: His name could naturally enter banking circles because of his seniority and finance credentials. But, he could be classified as market chatter, not a confirmed contender.

5. S. Balasubramanian is also a contender .He is serving as Non-Executive Chairman of the Bank from May 2011 and has 40 year experience in the Banking industry.
