Congress Set for Major June Overhaul, Central and State Units in Focus

Sources indicate that the Congress party is preparing for a significant organisational reshuffle in June, with sweeping changes expected both at the central level and across key state units. The exercise is likely to focus on strengthening the party’s leadership structure ahead of upcoming electoral battles and addressing persistent organisational gaps.
At the national level, changes in the central team could include a recalibration of roles within the All India Congress Committee (AICC), with an emphasis on performance, regional balance, and electoral strategy. Parallelly, several states are under review, including Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, and Delhi; regions where the party is either facing internal challenges or seeking to revive its political footing.
In Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, where factionalism has been a recurring issue, the reshuffle may aim to streamline leadership and improve coordination. Meanwhile, in Uttar Pradesh and Delhi, the focus is likely to be on rebuilding organisational strength and voter outreach. Jharkhand could also see adjustments to align with evolving alliance dynamics.
Is BJP Preparing Targeted Operation Lotus for TMC Ahead of Parliament Session?

The BJP is learnt to be working on a calibrated defection strategy, with sources indicating that several Trinamool Congress (TMC) MPs have been shortlisted for possible induction ahead of the next session of Parliament. The move, if executed, could be timed to maximise political signalling as well as numerical advantage in key legislative battles.
According to inputs, the exercise is not a broad sweep but a highly selective outreach, focusing on leaders perceived to be politically adaptable and regionally influential. The effort appears aimed at weakening the TMC’s parliamentary strength while simultaneously expanding the BJP’s footprint in West Bengal.
Significantly, sources also point to the existence of a “not fit” list for leaders who are unlikely to be considered despite their prominence. Names such as Shatrughan Sinha, Kirti Azad, and Mahua Moitra are said to be excluded, largely due to their sharp public positioning against the BJP and strong individual political identities.
While there is no official confirmation, the developments suggest a strategic, pre-session manoeuvre that could reshape equations both within Parliament and in Bengal’s evolving political landscape.
Will Annamalai launch new political outfit ?

Former Tamil Nadu BJP chief K Annamalai is reportedly weighing the possibility of exiting the party and launching a new political outfit, in what could mark a significant shift in the state’s political landscape. Sources familiar with internal discussions suggest that Annamalai has grown increasingly dissatisfied with the BJP’s coalition-driven approach in Tamil Nadu, particularly its reliance on alliances that may dilute the party’s independent growth prospects.
Annamalai, who built his political persona around a strong, assertive and corruption-focused campaign style, is believed to favour a more standalone expansion strategy for the BJP in the state. However, the party’s continued emphasis on alliances, especially in a Dravidian-majoritarian political ecosystem, appears to have created friction.
While there has been no official confirmation from Annamalai or the BJP, insiders indicate that preliminary consultations are underway regarding a potential independent political platform. Such a move, if materialised, could disrupt existing vote equations, particularly among urban and youth voters who have shown traction towards Annamalai’s brand of politics.
The development comes at a crucial juncture, with Tamil Nadu’s political space witnessing early churn ahead of future electoral cycles.
Did Sonia Gandhi & Priyanka Gandhi's Backing Tilt Karnataka’s Power Balance in Favour of DK Shivakumar?

Sources within the Congress suggest that Karnataka’s leadership transition may have been quietly shaped by a perceived preference within the party’s top brass for DK Shivakumar. Both Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra are understood to have maintained a relatively warmer equation with Shivakumar, a factor that, according to insiders, subtly influenced the eventual decision-making.
While Siddaramaiah’s administrative experience and mass appeal remained undisputed, Shivakumar’s organisational grip and financial acumen reportedly found resonance with sections of the central leadership. Party functionaries point to Shivakumar’s role in safeguarding the Congress’s legislative strength during periods of political instability as a key consideration.
However, senior leaders caution that the final call reflected a broader balancing act rather than the preference of any one individual. The Congress high command, they argue, sought to maintain equilibrium between competing power centres in the state unit while ensuring electoral cohesion ahead of future challenges.
Officially, the party has denied any bias in leadership choices, reiterating that decisions were taken collectively and in the interest of stability. Yet, the perception of a “softer corner” continues to circulate within political circles.

Mandsaur's crackdown on narcotics has delivered significant results with major drug seizures, busting of manufacturing units, attachment of properties worth hundreds of crores and the dismantling of trafficking networks operating across multiple states. Under the leadership of SP Vinod Kumar Meena, a 2019-batch IPS officer, the strategy goes beyond seizures to target the entire ecosystem of the drug trade from production and transportation to financing and distribution.
“Mandsaur Police works with zero tolerance for narcotics. In any case, we trace out forward and backward linkages. It's not just that we have seized it and will stop there. We will unravel the entire chain.”He quoted
In one of the most significant recent operations, Mandsaur police busted an interstate drug trafficking syndicate with links spanning West Bengal, Bihar, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Uttarakhand. Acting on intelligence inputs, the police recovered drugs worth nearly ₹20 crore and arrested five accused. Additionally, police also found that the drugs were hidden in specially made compartments inside the vehicles to avoid detection.
The seizure is part of a broader anti-narcotics campaign. 74 cases were registered under his leadership related to illicit narcotic drugs, and action was taken not only against traffickers but also against the proceeds generated from the trade. “We have seized ₹362 crore worth of property. These are properties purchased from proceeds of illicit narcotic drugs,” he said.
The district has also witnessed significant recoveries, including 21 kg of smack and 12 kg of MD, along with action against illegal manufacturing units and the supply chain. “The major highlight is Garoth's factory. We have also busted chemical units and an MD factory”. Police have recovered precursor chemicals including acetic anhydride and trichloroacetaldehyde, along with nearly 1,800 litres of chemicals used in the production process.
With sustained enforcement, network-based investigations and asset forfeiture measures, IPS Vinod Kumar Meena is leading a comprehensive campaign that is making Mandsaur closer to its goal of becoming a narcotic-free district. “We are working on DGP Sir's vision that we have to be narcotic-free. From the buyer to the seller, we work on all fronts”

In the shadowy world of digital deception, where financial frauds, fake identities, and transnational networks threaten the very fabric of society, Madhya Pradesh Police is mounting a determined and multifaceted counter-offensive. Additional Director General of Police Intelligence and (Cyber Crime), A. Sai Manohar, has been at the forefront of these initiatives, steering the state’s response with a mix of technological innovation, aggressive enforcement, and sustained public awareness.
According to official data shared by the Madhya Pradesh Police, cybercrime complaints in the state have surged nearly fivefold between 2021 and 2025, aligning with national patterns. Alarmingly, around 80% of these complaints pertain to online financial frauds. While the volume of cases has risen sharply, the conversion into FIRs has remained comparatively modest — a gap the force is now addressing head-on.
A landmark step came on 25 December 2025 with the launch of the e-Zero FIR system. Initially covering cyber financial frauds involving losses of ₹1 lakh and above, the system aims to lower the threshold to ₹50,000. By 31 May 2026, it had generated 1,413 e-Zero FIRs. In 2025, police registered 1,378 FIRs, and by end-May 2026, an additional 501 cybercrime cases were registered.
The integration of the 1930 Cyber Helpline with the 100 & 112 emergency response, manned by 15 dedicated call takers, has streamlined complaint registration. "A specialised 5-member Cyber Fraud Mitigation Unit works round-the-clock to freeze fraudulent accounts and enable recoveries. An MP Police officer’s deputation at the Cyber Fraud Mitigation Centre (I4C), New Delhi, has further strengthened coordination", revealed ADG Sai Manohar.
These measures have yielded impressive results and action on defrauded money rose from 11% in 2023 to 22% in 2025, and reached 30.55% in the first four months of 2026. Consequently, Madhya Pradesh has improved its national ranking from 22nd to 5th. Madhya Pradesh is praised for large-scale hybrid training of officers — and the piloting of the "Cyber Tehsil" concept for decentralised handling of cases.

Sources indicate that the Reserve Bank of India may be working on a targeted framework to expand financial inclusion for gig and platform-based workers, a segment that has grown rapidly but remains underserved by formal credit systems.
According to people familiar with the discussions, the proposed scheme could focus on easing access to small-ticket loans, introducing flexible repayment structures, and encouraging fintech-led credit assessment models that move beyond traditional income documentation. The central bank is also believed to be examining mechanisms to integrate gig workers into formal financial networks through digital payment trails and platform data.
The move comes amid rising policy attention on social security and financial stability for India’s gig economy, which is projected to employ over 20 million workers in the coming years. Existing challenges include irregular income streams, lack of collateral, and limited credit histories.
While details are still evolving, the initiative could involve collaboration with banks, NBFCs, and digital lending platforms, potentially backed by regulatory incentives or risk-sharing mechanisms.
An official announcement, if finalized, is expected in the coming policy cycles.

Reports indicate the Centre is preparing fresh delimitation legislation and related constitutional changes this parliamentary session, aiming to restart seat redrawing and accommodate women’s reservation proposals. Political friction with Congress in Tamil Nadu has widened, and several accounts suggest BJP leaders have been in quiet contact with DMK MPs to explore a working understanding in New Delhi. Southern parties, led by the DMK, publicly oppose population‑based delimitation fearing loss of representation, yet past DMK manoeuvres show they can shift tactics if assured protections or compensations are offered. BJP’s strategic interest in breaking the INDIA bloc’s unanimity on delimitation gives it an incentive to court DMK voices who could blunt unified opposition in Parliament. If the DMK extracts guarantees a freeze on state seat proportions, or a timeline protecting Tamil Nadu’s strength, it could quietly tolerate a Centre tabled bill while pushing safeguards through side agreements. That scenario would let the government present the reform as consensual while reducing southern resistance, but risks deepening DMK’s rupture with Congress and provoking legal challenges from rival parties.

A significant administrative churn was set in motion in Karnataka on May 1 after the Lokayukta initiated proceedings against top bureaucratic officials over the Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital compound wall collapse, which claimed seven lives. Those named include Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh and Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) Chief Commissioner Maheshwar Rao, marking a rare instance where accountability extended beyond municipal-level agencies to the highest tiers of the state administration.
The probe widened its scope to examine alleged lapses in infrastructure planning, supervision, and maintenance, also bringing police and civic authorities under scrutiny. The development signaled a shift toward systemic accountability in urban governance failures, particularly in Bengaluru’s overstretched civic ecosystem.
However, according to sources, the momentum of the Lokayukta’s proceedings may slow down amid an impending political transition. With Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar expected to assume charge as Chief Minister, there are indications that the case could be pushed into “cold storage,” raising questions about the continuity of institutional oversight and political will in pursuing high-level accountability.
