S M Tata has been promoted to the grade of Principal Chief Commissioner/ Principal DG of Customs & Indirect Taxes in the IRS (Customs & Indirect Taxes). On promotion , he is posted as Principal Chief Commissioner in CGST & CX Zone, Mumbai. He is a 1989 batch IRS officer.
