The 56 th edition of the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) programme for overseas professionals, sponsored by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, was organised by HUDCO's Human Settlement Management Institute (HSMI) from 12-25 March 2025. The two-week programme on ‘Right to adequate housing in the context of Habitat III New Urban Agenda – Policies, Planning & Practice’, brought together 25 participants from 22 different countries including Vietnam, Nigeria, Mexico, Myanmar, Sri Lanka etc. Sanjay Kulshrestha, CMD HUDCO, addressed the participants at the inaugural and valedictory sessions and highlighted the importance of housing as one of the basic needs of humankind which affects the quality of life of every citizen. He underscored HUDCO’s continuous efforts to enhance housing and urban infrastructure development in the country. Over the two weeks, thematic lectures on Indian policies for social housing, housing finance, migration patterns and their impact on demand for rental housing solutions and several innovative housing initiatives and rights-based approaches for adequate and affordable housing, were organised. The participants also went on various study visits to see the implementation of slum rehabilitation and rental housing projects. Further, they participated in group exercises and made country specific presentations, apart from catching a glimpse of Indian culture and heritage. Certificates of Participation were awarded to the participants by Sanjay Kulshrestha, CMD HUDCO, in the presence of senior officials of HUDCO at the successful completion of the programme.
