Shepherd from Maharashtra becomes IPS officer

“Where there's a will, there's a way”, a Shepherd boy from a remote village of Kolhapur district in Maharashtra has proved it by cracking a UPSC exam and becoming an IPS officer.  Birdev Siddhappa Dhone from a shepherd community was grazing goats in the field when he was informed of the selection in the Indian Police Service (IPS). His academic profile has been par excellence.
