NLC India Limited celebrated its 69th Raising Day on May 20, 2025, marking nearly seven decades of dedicated service to the Nation in the Energy sector. The celebration commenced in the morning with the garlanding of the statue of Jambulinga Mudaliar, the philanthropist who donated his lands to NLCIL. Later, the NLCIL flag was hoisted at all the Units by the respective Unit Heads. At the Corporate Office, NLCIL CMD Prasanna Kumar Motupalli hoisted the NLCIL flag in the presence of former CMDs, Senior officials, Representatives of Trade Unions & Associations and employees. An automatic, smart sliding glass door with the technology to identify employees and visitors with the help of sensors, installed at the entrance to the Corporate Office, was inaugurated by the CMD. In the evening, a formal function with usual fervour was arranged at Lignite Hall. Samir Swarup, Director (HR), NLCIL, welcomed the gathering. Former CMDs who were honoured for taking the company forward during their respective tenures, offered their felicitations. As a new initiative, a mascot for NLCIL was unveiled. The mascot, a Lion, symbolising power and progress named “Neyon”, will be the brand ambassador for the company. Delivering the Presidential address, NLC CMD Prasanna Kumar Motupalli paid rich tributes to Jambulinga Mudaliar, describing him as the man behind the formation of NLCIL. He also expressed gratitude to all employees and stakeholders of yesteryears and their families who were responsible for the evolution and growth of NLCIL. Prasanna Kumar Motupalli referred to the outstanding financial results of Financial year 2024-25 with pride, declaring that the All Time High Profits of the company will certainly motivate Team NLCIL to work with more commitment. He stated that NLCIL had fixed targets – achieving more than 100 Million Metric Tonnes (MT) of Lignite from the present 44 Million MT in Mining, a three - fold increase in its total power generation capacity and increasing Renewable Energy output sevenfold by 2030. This requires concerted effort from a team of skilled workforce that can work with high competency levels through continuous learning and updation of expertise. He also emphasised the importance of ensuring the commissioning of Units II and III of Ghatampur Thermal Power Plant, despatch of coal from the Pachwara South Coal Block to Ghatampur TPP and progress of all other upcoming Thermal Projects on time. He also highlighted NLCIL’s efforts in converting “Waste to Art forms” which included the recent creation of a “Jai Hind Chakra” prepared out of metal scrap from NLCIL Mines, installed in New Delhi near the New Parliament House, a first of its kind initiative by any Public Sector Enterprise. Prasanna Kumar also placed on record his appreciation of tireless efforts by various departments of NLCIL and called for the continuation of the work with the same vigour to take the company forward. Following this, a book – “The Guiding Light – NLCIL Ethics Book” designed to guide, inspire and empower employees to make decisions grounded with ethics and integrity, was released. Next, as a mark of recognition of their contributions in the evolution of the company, 10 elderly retired employees of NLCIL and their spouses were honoured by CMD, Functional Directors and CVO with a shawl and a gift hamper. Awards were distributed under various categories like Productivity excellence, Efficiency, Overall performance and Safety for Industrial and Service Units. Also, the Elite and Excel group and individual awards were presented to the recipients. NLCIL’s Functional Directors, CVO, Senior Officials, Executives, Employees, representatives of recognised Trade Unions, Welfare Associations, NLC SC/ST Welfare Federations, WIPS, School teachers, students and the general public attended the event.
A grand and mesmerising Bharatanatyam recital by renowned artiste & Padma Bhushan awardee, Ms. Shobana enthralled one and all. Cultural programmes were also presented by NLC School children and students of SNEHA Opportunity School, Neyveli.
