WITC spoke with 2018 batch, Andhra Pradesh cadre IFS officer Vineet Kumar posted at Kadapa, on some common and sophisticated safety essentials to protect forest staff against life-threatening hazards and significantly reduce chances of injury or death on-field.

Forest officers operate in some of the most challenging environments, facing  constant threat from wild animals, armed poachers, forest fires, and of course, high-risk, rough terrains and extreme weather conditions.  Over the years, the Indian government has realised the challenges the Forest Service (IFS) officers and their on-field staff face and have been arming them with sophisticated and effective safety gears.
