India invited to G7 summit by France! (UPDATED)
France, as G7 chair, has invited India to participate in the 2026 G7 leaders’ summit in Évian as a key partner from the Global South. This continues a pattern of regular outreach invitations to India by G7 hosts, reflecting New Delhi’s growing weight as the world’s most populous country and a top-tier economy. French messaging around its G7 presidency highlights reducing global economic imbalances, climate and energy security, and technology governance, areas where Paris sees India as an indispensable interlocutor. The invitation also builds on the deepening India–France strategic partnership and Macron’s planned engagements in India in 2026 for the AI Impact Summit and the India–France “Year of Innovation 2026.”
