The Dredging Corporation of India Ltd (DCI) announced that Dr. Madhaiyaan Angamuthu, IAS, has been granted a six-month extension as Chairman (Additional Charge) of the Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA). Dr. Angamuthu, a 2002-batch IAS officer of the Assam-Meghalaya cadre, continues to hold the additional charge of the port authority alongside his leadership role at DCI. The extension ensures continuity in the administration of one of India’s key major ports, which plays a vital role in enabling maritime trade on the east coast. During his tenure, the VPA has focused on operational efficiency, infrastructure modernization, and synergy with DCI for maintenance dredging and capacity expansion. The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways approved the extension to align both institutions’ strategic priorities and maintain momentum in port-led development initiatives.
