DFCCIL MD reviews infrastructure, employee welfare and CSR initiatives (UPDATED)

Praveen Kumar, Managing Director, Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL), conducted a comprehensive railcar inspection of the New Dadri-New Khurja-Sahnewal section on the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor (EDFC) recently. During the visit, he reviewed operational performance of the corridor, assessed key infrastructure assets, and interacted with field officials to evaluate ongoing efforts towards enhancing efficiency and capacity utilization of the DFC network. He also undertook a review of security preparedness in this EDFC section following recent untoward incidents reported on the Dedicated Freight Corridor track.

The MD conducted an inspection of the Traction Substation (TSS) at New Talheri Buzurg, a crucial part of the Corporation’s fully electrified rail network powered by the advanced 2×25 kV traction system. The inspection focused on assessing critical equipment, power supply systems, monitoring mechanisms, and safety protocols that ensure uninterrupted traction power delivery to freight trains along the corridor.

In line with DFCCIL’s commitment to social responsibility, Kumar inaugurated a modern facility at SEVA Dhaam Ashram, Saha, dedicated to children affected by Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD). The facility, equipped with advanced physiotherapy tools, aims to improve rehabilitation and therapeutic care for children under the Corporation’s CSR initiative.

He also inaugurated the newly constructed DFCCIL Type-V Residential Quarters at Ambala Cantt., designed to provide high-quality living facilities for employees and their families, reflecting the Corporation’s focus on employee welfare.

The inspection was accompanied by senior officials including Directors, Executive Directors, and General Managers from various field units.

Spanning 2,843 route kilometres, the Dedicated Freight Corridor continues to transform freight transportation in India, handling an average of 406 trains daily and achieving a record 907 train interchanges on 26 January 2026. With 586 billion GTKM transported to date, the corridor exemplifies DFCCIL’s role in enhancing supply chain efficiency, reducing transit times, and supporting the nation’s economic growth.
