Priyanka Gandhi holds final say on who gets tickets in Assam Polls?

Despite the Congress high command's extensive consultations and grassroots push for candidate selection in Assam, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra remains the ultimate decision-maker for ticket distribution. Sources reveal that after deliberations involving state leaders like Gaurav Gogoi and multiple rounds of screening committees, the buck stops with her for final approvals. This centralized authority underscores her pivotal role in Congress's Northeast strategy ahead of upcoming polls. Party insiders note her hands-on approach ensures alignment with the high command's vision, balancing winnability, loyalty, and caste dynamics in a BJP stronghold. Her veto power has overridden several local recommendations, signaling a top-down revival effort.

Government eyes major relief for mega power projects

Exclusive sources indicate the Indian government is set to deliver significant relief to provisional mega power projects by extending full benefits of the Mega Power Policy, 2009. This includes 100% exemption from customs and excise duties on imported project equipment—a key boost for capital-intensive developments. Currently, these benefits apply only to projects securing power purchase agreements (PPAs) via Section 63 of the Electricity Act, 2003, which requires tariff-based competitive bidding. The proposed amendment would extend exemptions regardless of PPA type, even under Section 62’s cost-plus mechanism, provided projects tie up at least 85% of capacity on a long-term basis. The Power Ministry has finalized a Cabinet note after completing inter-ministerial consultations. This move aims to revive stalled mega projects amid rising energy demands and renewable transitions.Companies like Adani Power, Sembcorp Gayatri, DB Power, and GUVNL stand to gain substantially, potentially unlocking investments and enhancing grid reliability. The policy tweak signals New Delhi’s commitment to bolstering thermal capacity while balancing fiscal incentives with market dynamics.

However, analysts note that this requires reforms in voting rights and public float amounts to attract foreign investors, as current holdings (e.g., in Canara Bank) remain below existing caps. This reflects efforts to modernise the conservative PSB sector.

India’s AI Awakening: Sarvam Kaze Steals the Spotlight at Global Summit (UPDATED)
In a moment that instantly went viral, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was seen wearing a sleek pair of black smart glasses at the India AI Impact Summit. The device? Sarvam Kaze — India’s first fully indigenous AI-powered wearable, developed by Bengaluru startup Sarvam AI. It listens, understands spoken queries in real time, captures what the user sees through its built-in camera, and processes context-aware responses — all without relying on foreign cloud infrastructure. A full voice-chat feature rolls out soon, with commercial availability slated for May 2026.

This single image captured the essence of India’s remarkable advent into global AI leadership. The brains behind Sarvam Kaze are two brilliant scientists: Dr. Pratyush Kumar, an IIT Bombay alumnus with a PhD in Computer Engineering and deep experience at IBM and Microsoft Research, and Dr. Vivek Raghavan, IIT Delhi graduate and Carnegie Mellon PhD holder, who previously shaped India’s digital public goods ecosystem. Together they founded Sarvam AI in 2023 to build sovereign large language models tailored for India’s 22 official languages — models that now power everything from vernacular chatbots to this groundbreaking hardware.

Prime Minister Modi’s personal trial of the device was no coincidence. Under his stewardship, the IndiaAI Mission has poured resources into homegrown innovation, turning the dream of “Atmanirbhar AI” into reality. His presence sent a powerful message: India is not merely consuming world technology — it is shaping it.

As global giants like Meta race ahead with their own AI glasses, Sarvam Kaze stands apart — designed, manufactured, and optimised in India for Indian realities. By blending cutting-edge science with cultural relevance, it challenges the notion that advanced AI must come from Silicon Valley.

In one quiet walk through the summit halls, scientists, political will, and national ambition converged. Sarvam has not just stunned the world — it has announced that India has arrived as an AI superpower, ready to lead with inclusive, ethical, and truly indigenous intelligence.

India-US AI to sign 2 MoUs on Silicon Manufacturing at the sidelines of AI Impact Summit. Ashwini Vaishnaw likely to front the MoUs? (UPDATED)

India is set to deepen strategic tech ties with the United States by signing two new MoUs on artificial intelligence and advanced silicon manufacturing on the sidelines of the India AI Impact Summit 2026, positioning itself as a core partner in Washington’s emerging Pax Silica architecture for secure AI and semiconductor supply chains. The agreements, to be fronted by Union IT and Electronics Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, will build on India’s entry into the US‑led Pax Silica framework unveiled at the summit, tying New Delhi more closely into American-led networks for chips, critical minerals and AI infrastructure.

For Washington, bringing India into this “Pax America” tech compact strengthens efforts to derisk supply chains away from strategic rivals; for New Delhi, it signals intent to move from being a large digital market to a full-stack silicon and AI power.

‘Universal therapy'

Have you ever wondered whether the things that scare or trouble you are truly burdens you carry or merely illusions created by the mind?  What if the universe already holds solutions to every problem and all you need to do is release your worries and allow them to dissolve on their own?   The moment this understanding arises, life begins to change.

Start by gently closing your eyes, taking a deep breath and exhaling slowly.   Let the worries within you surface and move freely, that is, do not resist them. Resistance creates pain, but allowing thoughts to flow initiates healing.   Worry does not belong to you, it is simply a passing thought.   It comes and goes, yet we mistake it for reality and try to fight it.   In doing so, we distance ourselves from the universe.

The truth is that the universe is always present - watching, understanding and working through us.  We fail to sense this only because our restless mind creates noise.  That inner noise blocks the calm universal energy that quietly assures us that everything is fine and will continue to be fine. When we surrender our worries, plans and expectations, we realize that we are not acting alone.    Existence itself moves through us. When we flow with life, it becomes effortless and, at the same time, when we resist, struggle or try to swim against the stream, that anxiety arise.

We often believe we can manage everything ourselves, yet how often has life unfolded exactly as planned?   Pressure only tangles situations, while letting go allows clarity to emerge.   Universal energy is far more powerful than personal effort and its wisdom surpasses our limited thinking.  Faith opens doors. With time, life’s experiences begin to make sense - pain reveals its purpose and obstacles appear as hidden blessings.  This transformation is possible only through surrendering oneself to the universe.

Surrender is not weakness, instead it is immense courage.   Accepting that ‘I do not know’ is true wisdom.  A calm mind aligns with the calm universe.  Simply say, ‘I release my worries and surrender to the universe’ and then feel the lightness and peace within.   Hold on to nothing - believe, surrender and listen to the quiet assurance that everything will be fine.

Worry fades where belief begins, just as snow melts under sunlight. The brightness of faith leaves no space for darkness.   When you start trusting that an unseen force is guiding and protecting you, defeat and despair lose their power.  Doubt, however, closes doors, because the universe operates on faith, not questioning.   The deeper your trust, the more paths open.  Just say, ‘I do not know, but I believe’, and that is the purest prayer.

When life feels overwhelming, do not resist it.  Instead, surrender and observe how your surroundings and relationships begin to shift.  Nothing in the universe happens without reason.  Our bodies, created and sustained by the universe, follow this same law. What stops or breaks does so for a purpose. Surrender is not just a phrase, it is a source of energy.

Worry is born from inner chaos and calmness reconnects us with the universal flow. The tighter we try to hold on, the faster things slip away, just like water escaping a clenched palm.   What truly belongs to you cannot be taken by anyone and what is not meant for you will never ever stay with you.  When worries are handed over to the universe, they disappear.

Worry lives in the future, while the universe exists in the present. When we learn to live in the moment and see every experience as a lesson, we feel supported again. The universe holds us the moment we let go. Once we surrender, it will not let us fall.   Speak sincerely: ‘I leave everything to you’ and watch life unfold.

A river never worries about its destination, it simply flows and eventually reaches the sea.  Flow like the river.   Let go of what is leaving and welcome what arrives.  Build a friendship with the universe, talk to it, feel it and trust its care.

At times, it may feel as though everything is falling apart, efforts incomplete, dreams shattered.  Yet the universe never acts without purpose. Our vision becomes blurred by fear of the future or regret of the past, disconnecting us from the present moment where the universe resides.   Worry is therefore futile, it is just like doubting creation itself.

We are never alone.  The universe is patient and precise, it does not rush or make mistakes. Every hardship carries a lesson.  When you feel broken, the universe begins to work for you, but only if you surrender.  Saying ‘I have no faith’ blocks energy, but accepting ‘everything is happening as it should’ opens the way forward.

Do not judge the universe through ego. Ego demands instant results whereas the universe works quietly and in its own time.   The desire to control everything leads to exhaustion.  Worry binds us in chains, while surrender leads to freedom.

Show cause notice to the Bar Council of India for vague and evasive reply

Through four different RTI applications, the complainant sought different information from Bar Council of India such as the Audited accounts of the last 5 years of BCI, Compliance of section 4(1) of the RTI Act, the minutes of meeting of the Trustees, copy of the Income/Expenditure & Balance sheet, copy of the Bar Council of India Pearl Trust, Copies of the inspection report, Minutes of the meeting of the Legal Education Committee of the Bar Council of India etc. The CIC noted the vague reply and delay in responding to the RTI application and directed the PIO to submit a suitable explanation as to why no action should be initiated for the variations in their stance. In the other complaint, a notice was issued why action should be initiated for the vague and evasive reply which has not even been submitted before the CIC. Further in another complaint, the CIC issued a show cause notice Mr. Anil Kumar, PIO, BCI why penalty should not be levied upon him under Section 20(1) of the RTI Act for not furnishing any response.

Comments

The Bar Council of India (BCI) is a statutory body established by the Parliament under the Advocates Act, 1961 to regulate and represent the Indian Bar. The BCI prescribes the standards of professional conduct and etiquettes and also set standards for legal education. If such a premier body fumbles in implementing section 4 of the RTI Act and is served a SCN for imposing penalty, the legal profession is in for a rude shock.
