The Union Cabinet has approved BHAVYA - Bharat Audyogik Vikas Yojana, a central sector scheme for developing 100 investment-ready plug and play industrial parks with an outlay of Rs 33,660 crores. I&B Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw informed media on Wednesday after the Cabinet Meeting.  Such parks will be developed near 100 cities where industrial ecosystems exist or can be created. The Centre will provide support of about Rs 1 crore per acre, he said. The Cabinet also approved the Small Hydro Power Development Scheme. This focuses on ‘run-of-the-river’ projects, which generate power using the natural flow of rivers without building large dams or causing major displacement and environmental issues. Around 7,000 sites have been identified across the country, with a potential to create about 21,000 MW capacity through small hydro power.

 The ongoing regional conflict has triggered advisories though, Australia asked diplomat families to leave UAE, on March 8. Reports emerged of 19 Indians among 35 arrested in UAE for posting misleading content on the war. Despite tensions, economic and people-to-people bonds remain robust; India continues diversified crude sourcing without price shocks.

The Ministry of Communication has asked HoDs to  ensure compliance of the Promotion, transfer & posting orders issued by the DoT HQs by March 31 this year. In an  Office Memorandum the Ministry urged all concerned units to relieve the officers immediately so that they may report to their new places of posting. The DoT had transferred 8  P&T Building Works Service in December 2025 and in January this year but none of them have been relieved till date.

The ECI has engaged 113 IRS(C&IT) officers as Expenditure Observers for the assembly polls of Tamil Nadu and West Bengal, Phase 1 & II and for some by-elections.

The CBIC has accepted the technical resignations of 7 IRS(C&IT) officers w e f August 20, 2025. But the Office Order of the acceptance of their technical officers was issued in March 2026. As per order, the CBIC has accepted the technical resignation of  7 Officer 'trainees of the Indian Revenue Service (Customs & Indirect Taxes), upon their selection to various services through the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2024. They are- Jaskaran Singh, Vaibhav Kumar, Shreyas Rao G, Sampreeth Santhosh, Gursimarat Singh and Amit Meena.

 Arun Agarwal DDG, in the DoT HQ will join the TRAI HQs as Pr. Advisor on a deputation basis for a period of two years. He is an ITS officer.

Punit Kumar has been temporarily posted as ADG in Punjab LSA against the existing vacancy. He is an ITS officer.

IPS officer, Pupul Dutta Prasad (has been made Honorary Director of Project 39A at National Law University Delhi (NLU Delhi). Project 39A is a special centre at the university that works to make the justice system fairer for everyone, especially poor people, as per Article 39A of the Indian Constitution. Lawyer, Sanjay Vashishtha, has also been made Executive Director of the same project.

Swarup Nandkeolyar and Debashis Bandyopadhyay have been empanelled for appointment as IEMs. Both are from HLL Infra Tech Services Ltd (HITES).

Meenakshi Mishra has been empanelled for appointment as IEM. She is a 1983 batch IA&AS and retired as DG Audit, Railway – Commercial.

 The Government has approved quantum teaching laboratories in 23 academic institutions across India. Quantum technology is a new, super-advanced field. It can make computers much faster, create ultra-secure communication, and build better sensors.These labs will help students and researchers learn and experiment with quantum tech right in their colleges. About 100 more colleges are being considered for similar labs. This was discussed and approved in a high-level meeting of Science Ministry secretaries, chaired by Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh. The meeting also planned bigger events like National Technology Day (May 11–13, 2026) and the India International Science Festival 2026 in Pune.

 Many National Institutes of Technology (NITs) are still accepting applications for teaching jobs (faculty positions).

Four IPS officers have been given new postings in Bihar. Ajay Kumar Pandey has been posted as DIG, De-addiction and ANTF, while Mrs Prerana Kumar is now SP, Lakhisarai and Rajesh Kumar takes charge as SP, Naugachia. Besides, Awdhesh Dixit is now SP (Personnel-I), Bihar PHQ.

Not a single promotion in 15-20 years. Extremely difficult service conditions, no social recognition, no service and pension benefits. No family/social life. And step-motherly treatment of government towards CAPF officers and Jawans. What else do you expect?

Government should ask DGs of these CAPFs the reason for this high number of resignation and implement service reforms including Supreme Court ruling regarding OGAS status to CAPF officers.

The Appellant sought the date wise LTC Concession (Economy Class) air fare displayed on https://www.irctc.co.in/Portal between Mumbai and Varanasi for the Period 01st to 30th November 2021. The PIO replied that the Historical Airfare data of Airlines is not stored by IRCTC. The Airline fares are governed by Airlines and are very dynamic which may vary as per the seat availability at the time and date of booking. It is the duty of the person booking the ticket to take the screenshot of the comparative fares flashed on the screen at the time of booking the ticket, because it keeps on changing and it is not possible to recapitulate later on the same at the relevant time. The CIC observed that as far as RTI application is concerned, appropriate reply has been furnished by the Respondents and upheld the same. The Appellant made a prayer during the hearing to provide a certified copy of downloaded fares. In this regard, the CIC held that it is an extended relief claimed which has never been sought in the original RTI application and rejected the same.

Comments

It is seen that some government servants miss taking a screenshot of the comparative fares at the time of booking of the tickets. Such bills are struck up and there is little that the RTI Act can do to provide the historical data which is not stored.
