JD(U) leaders actively involved in shaping political persona of Nishant Kumar

The Janata Dal (United) (JDU) has begun systematically grooming Nishant Kumar, son of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, as a potential future leader. Nishant is increasingly being projected as a possible Chief Ministerial face. Senior party figures are actively involved in shaping his political persona, with structured training sessions being held at the residence of senior party Minister Ashok Chaudhary. From body language and public speaking to attire and administrative understanding, every aspect of his political presence is being carefully developed. The party is making all efforts to project him as independent and credible political figure. Nishant formally joined the JD(U) on 8 March, 2026.
BJD-BJP Tensions Reignite after Long: Nishikant Dubey's Remarks Spark Political Firestorm in an Otherwise Cordial Odisha Politics ?

After years of alliance harmony, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) face renewed political heat, triggered by fiery comments from BJP MP Nishikant Dubey on former Odisha Chief Minister Biju Patnaik. In a dramatic escalation, BJD MP Sasmit Patra has resigned from the Parliamentary Standing Committee, protesting Dubey's "disrespectful" remarks that tarnished Biju Patnaik's legacy as Odisha's visionary leader.
Patra cited inability to serve under Dubey's leadership, signaling deep personal and party affront. This standoff in Parliament underscores brewing friction, potentially derailing cooperative federalism in Odisha ahead of key assembly sessions.
Prospects point to a prolonged slugfest: BJD may rally regional pride, amplifying Dubey's gaffe through media blitzes, while BJP counters with development narratives. Experts foresee disrupted legislative agendas, alliance strains in Rajya Sabha, and ripple effects on 2027 polls. With Patra's exit amplifying the rift, this could mark the end of BJD's tacit BJP support, reshaping eastern India's power dynamics amid national polarization.

The proposed 8th Central Pay Commission has taken centre stage among central government employees and pensioners, with expectations building as the 7th Pay Commission draws to a close on December 31, 2025.
Reports suggest that employees drawing a basic pay below Rs 50,000 could be in line for the biggest gains, with arrears pegged to nearly 20 months and varying fitment factors. At the entry level, Level 1 (Rs 18,000) employees may see payouts in the range of Rs 3.6 lakh to Rs 5.65 lakh, while those at Level 8 (Rs 47,600) could take home between Rs 9.52 lakh and nearly Rs 14.94 lakh. The fitment factor remains the key lever in the proposed pay revision. While the 7th Pay Commission had set it at 2.57, the government is understood to be weighing options between 2.0 and 2.57. Employee unions, however, are pushing for a higher band of 3.0 to 3.25— a move that could potentially lift the minimum basic pay from Rs 18,000 to around Rs 54,000. Going by the established 10-year cycle, the 8th Pay Commission’s recommendations are likely to kick in from January 1, 2026. The commission, reportedly chaired by Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai, has been given an 18-month window to submit its report.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has proactively recalibrated its stance on bank funding to brokers, deferring stringent capital market exposure norms from April 1 to July 1, 2026. This shift reverses February's effective ban on bank financing for brokers' proprietary trading, now permitting it under strict safeguards, lending only against 100% cash or cash-equivalent collateral to mitigate risks.
The move balances market liquidity needs with enhanced bank risk controls, transitioning from a blanket 'no funding' policy to 'fully secured funding.' RBI also relaxed rules for market makers, lifting prior collateral restrictions to bolster trading efficiency.
This proactive recalibration reflects RBI's adaptive approach, ensuring financial stability amid volatile markets while supporting broker operations. Banks must now implement robust monitoring to prevent leverage excesses, signaling RBI's nuanced liquidity-risk equilibrium.

Senior strategic experts in India believe Pakistan is unlikely to play an effective mediator between Tehran and Islamabad because trust remains deeply eroded on both sides. Iran is reportedly wary of Pakistan’s closeness to the United States and Saudi Arabia, and some observers say Tehran views Islamabad’s past conduct as having indirectly served American interests .
Experts note that mediation only works when both parties believe the messenger is neutral, and that condition is missing here. Pakistan’s attempt to position itself as a regional broker may therefore look more like diplomacy for visibility than a credible peace channel.
The result is a structural problem, not a temporary one: without confidence from Tehran, Pakistan’s efforts are unlikely to gain traction

In a decisive move highlighting its zero-tolerance approach to opacity in investments, the Uttar Pradesh government has terminated its ₹25,000 crore Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with startup Puch AI. The agreement, signed on March 23, 2026, faced mounting public and political scrutiny over the firm’s financial and operational credibility. According to the official statement, the state’s review mandated by standard operating protocol found that the company failed to timely furnish essential documentation and evidence of financial capacity. The government’s due diligence also revealed inadequate net worth and weak financial linkages necessary for executing a project of this magnitude. Acting to safeguard public interest and ensure probity, the state cancelled the MoU effective immediately, clarifying that no rights or obligations now remain. Officials emphasized that the action reflects Uttar Pradesh’s steadfast commitment to transparency and ethical governance in high-value investment agreements.

Solution to Iran, Israel and USA war
The ongoing conflict between Iran, Israel, and America is a complex issue with multiple factors at play. The war, which began on February 28, 2026, has resulted in significant damage to infrastructure and human lives. The US and Israel have launched strikes on Iran's military, nuclear, and energy infrastructure, while Iran has retaliated with missile and drone attacks.
Possible Solutions:
- Negotiated Settlement: Diplomatic talks could lead to a ceasefire, but conditions are complex.
- Continued Limited War: Attacks continue without full invasion.
Regional War Expansion : Conflict could escalate rapidly if more countries or groups join.
The US aims to degrade Iran's missile capabilities and nuclear program, while Israel seeks to eliminate existential threats and remove the current Iranian regime. Iran, on the other hand, wants an end to hostilities, reparations, and sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz.
Current Developments:
- The US has proposed a 15-point ceasefire plan, which Iran has rejected.
- Pakistan has offered to broker talks between the US and Iran.
- The conflict has disrupted global energy supplies and caused economic instability

Personal hearing before the first appellate authority
Information in respect of election in Sri Ram CGHS Itd. was sought. The CIC noted that the Complainant has not served a copy of the instant Complaint upon the Respondent. The CIC observed that serving a copy of documents (including Complaint, Second Appeal and Written submissions) to the opposite party is fundamental requirement for due process in legal proceedings and crucial for fairness, transparency, and also in the interest of expeditious response from the concerned Public Authority. The CIC issued an advisory u/s 25 (5) of the RTI Act to the Respondent Public Authority to provide a due opportunity of being heard to the parties while adjudicating the First Appeal in view of principle of natural justice.
Comments
There is no specific provision in the RTI Act, 2005 which provides for a compulsory personal hearing before the first appellate authority. However, it would be incumbent upon the FAA to grant a personal hearing to the appellant if it has been sought. The principles of natural justice should be followed.
