whispers in the corridors

Will Suvendu Adhikari become Bengal’s next CM ?

Suvendu Adhikari’s victory over Mamata Banerjee in Bhabanipur would be a major political setback for the chief minister, but it would not automatically make him the most likely next chief minister of West Bengal. Reports note that the BJP already views him as a prominent CM face, yet the party has not formally announced him, and Adhikari himself has said the decision rests with the central leadership.
His win would strengthen his standing inside the BJP and sharpen the perception that he is the party’s strongest challenger in Bengal. It would also give the BJP a symbolic breakthrough in Mamata Banerjee’s own political fortress, which could help the party project momentum ahead of government formation talks.
Still, the final choice would depend on the BJP’s electoral arithmetic, alliance strategy, and leadership’s preference for a face acceptable across regions and communities. So the more precise way to put it is this: a Bhabanipur win would make Suvendu Adhikari the front-runner, not the automatic chief minister-in-waiting.
Will BJP name a woman leader as Bengal CM?

After historic win in West Bengal, focus has shifted to who will be BJP chief minister? Experts opined that the BJP is highlighting women's reservation bill vigorously and accusing the opposition to stall the bill in the Parliament. BJP may now appoint a woman as CM of Bengal to keep the issue alive. And sources said that Agnimitra Paul and Roopa Ganguli are strong contenders for the post. And if a woman is appointed as CM then the chances of Suvendu Adhikari could be dim.
Will Himanta Biswa Sarma go Shivraj Singh Chauhan way ?

Bengaluru Corporation Polls: Big Proxy War between DKS or Siddaramaiah to shake up Karnataka Congress?
.jpg)
The upcoming Bengaluru corporation polls are increasingly looking like a proxy battle for control inside Karnataka Congress, with the Siddaramaiah and D.K. Shivakumar camps both trying to project strength ahead of the vote. The chatter around the high command is that the party may be forced to balance Siddaramaiah’s social base with DKS’s organisational grip, money power, and street-level muscle.
If that reading is right, the election could become less about municipal issues and more about who can shape Congress’s next phase in Karnataka. DKS’s camp is widely seen as more aggressive in building influence, but Siddaramaiah still has the advantage of incumbency and a broader political legitimacy within the party. The high command’s final call will likely decide whether this contest remains a managed rivalry or turns into an open reset of the state unit.

West Bengal Chief Secretary Dushyant Nariala has issued a stringent directive to all departments, prohibiting the removal, damage, or unauthorized copying of official files and documents. The order, circulated on May 4, 2026, places personal accountability on departmental secretaries and heads of offices to ensure full compliance, with strict action promised for violations.
This move coincides with BJP landslide win in 2026 Assembly elections grabbing 206 seats and ending Mamata Banerjee's 15 year Trinamool Congress rule.
Insiders suggest the directive signals an impending purge in the state bureaucracy. Sources indicate a top-level order that "heads must roll" for officials responsible for fostering a nexus of middlemen, which allegedly plagued governance under the previous regime. Departments must halt unnecessary file movements, block unauthorized access, and maintain meticulous records of all communications.
The communication was forwarded to additional chief secretaries, principal secretaries, police chiefs, divisional commissioners, and district magistrates, underscoring its urgency. This precautionary lockdown aims to preserve records for potential investigations into corruption and irregularities.

This would be a terrible choice. Victory was for team udf.But considering the local terrain, a considerable section of people voted for UDF considering VD's political stands. He stepped in when party was in ventilator. He boosted the morale of several party workers right from both level. He was able to bring a good culture during the changing times. From Few hartals to criticising the ruling front and similarly supporting them when required both inside and outside the house. He was also able to gel with a section of youth who lost belief in politics. KC and RC are also good leaders in their own spheres. But VDS should be the natural choice here as he is more familiar with the pulse of common man.
